AMAZON PRIME DAY 2022

SALE and SAVE are the two best four-letter words right now on Amazon.ca. I'm super-aware that budgets are stretched right now, so I've gone for practical purchases you need to save on. Let's get to the stuff, STAT:

UPDATE: PRIME DAY 2

It's Day 2 of Prime Day on Amazon.ca, and there are a couple of excellent new deals you might want to know about so I've added them. From Day 1, The Bioderma Atoderm Shower Oil (now ridiculously priced at Shoppers) is still on sale. (By the way, here's what you need to know about the Bioderma shower oil formula).

Many brands such as CeraVe, GiletteOlay, Aveeno, Garnier (including Ombrelle), Neutrogena, Nivea, La Roche Posay, L'Oreal Paris, Strivectin, Belif and Vichy all still have deals on Amazon.ca's Prime Day 2.

Haven't removed Day 1 deals from this post because I've realized they're ALL probs still valid. I just stopped moving them up to "Day 2" because I've got other things I need to do today. "grin*

BURT'S BEES TRULY GLOWING GLOW BOOSTER

If you've heard of bakuchiol, you need to know that Burt's Bees has done their own study of the antioxidant ingredient that keeps getting compared to retinol. They presented it at a virtual derm conference at the end of 2020, and their findings support the buzz over the plant extract's remarkable ability to rewind skin aging a lot like retinoids can, without the irritation. There's bakuchiol in this Burt's Bees Truly Glowing Reawakening Glow Booster with Antioxidant Oils ($16.99 on sale for $13 at amazon.ca); as I mentioned yesterday in the Strivectin blurb (see a bit below), along with all things hydrating, my 53-year-old skin likes a hit of oil on the daily.

(I'M FROM) RICE TONER

I have wanted to try this K-beauty (I'm From) Rice Toner ($36.85, on sale for $25.20 at amazon.ca) for ages; discerning skinfluencer James Welsh has mentioned it in a few videos (I'll link when I figure out which one I'm thinking of). My skin isn't like his, but I adore a hydrating toner, plus it's fragrance-free, and from a reputable seller. On top of that – and this might be a weird detail for many – I also like that the brand recognizes plastic isn't always the earth-slaying choice when it comes to sustainability. Oh, and 32% off – I mean, come ON.

CREST 3D WHITESTRIPS LARGER SIZE

Crest Whitestrips are The G.O.A.T. for affordable long-lasting whitening. I went the dentist route first, years ago, then tried Whitestrips when they launched – and I continue to buy them when it's time for a smile refresh. (Sensitivity does happen with frequent use, but if you wait a year before the next time, your teeth will be back to normal.) HOT TIP: do the complete treatment in the recommended amount of time. Whitening lasts just a day or two if you only use a strip here and there. This Crest 3D Whitestrips Larger Size, 22 Treatments kit ($65.97; on sale for $44.99 at amazon.ca) is 32% off to save you a whopping $20; there's one in my cart right now, even though my stash is already two boxes strong.

ROC RETINOL CORREXION NIGHT SERUM CAPSULES

RoC is an OG in drugstore retinol skincare that works – if you know, you know. If you haven't had the nerve to add retinol to your skincare yet, or you've had trouble sticking with retinol in the past because it irritated your skin, these ROC Retinol Correxion Line Smoothing Night Serum Capsules ($43.99, on sale for $32.99 at amazon.ca) are an excellent, gentle option that deliver results with as-directed use. And get this: they're also 25% off at Shoppers Drug Mart online, for 3 more days.

This ROC Retinol Correxion Line Smoothing Max Hydration Cream is excellent as well (derms love it, as does our Liza Herz, and me too), but get it at Shoppers Drug Mart online instead; it's a slightly better price – $43.99, on sale for $32.99 at shoppersdrugmart.ca, and until July 16th. (Note: our Liza Herz may not have written about this moisturizer on Oldish.ca just yet, but we've spent time on the phone talking about how much we each like it, and how much the derms we follow in Instagram like it too. *grin*)

WATERPIK WP-660 AQUARIUS PROFESSIONAL WATER FLOSSER

Spotted this Waterpik WP-660 Aquarius Professional Water Flosser ($99.99, on sale for $59.99 at amazon.ca) for 40% off and thought about its suitability for a family that needs a dental-floss alternative because the kids aren't flossing and FLOSSING MATTERS.

BIODERMA ATODERM SHOWER OIL

Bioderma Atoderm Shower Oil ($23.19; on sale for $16.09 at amazon.ca) used to come in at just under $20 for a litre, a steal for this skin-saving light cleansing oil that rinses easily away without turning the tub into a slippery hazard. But the price has risen by nearly $10 at drugstores – it's now $29 at Shoppers Drug Mart! Best get your wintertime stash ready now at this 31%-off Amazon Prime Day price (the regular price seems to be better as well, but it's Amazon – who knows what the price will be tomorrow or next week).

STRIVECTIN SUPER-C RETINOL BRIGHTEN & CORRECT VITAMIN C SERUM

My 53-year-old skin now needs a small daily dose of oil as well as moisture to keep it supple and plump; I particularly like an oil that comes with other must-have ingredients. Strivectin Super-C Retinol Brighten & Correct Vitamin C Serum ($79; on sale for $55.29 at amazon.ca) is a prime example (see what I did there?) of exactly what mature skin needs. And yes, you can use it in the morning if you like because you'll be putting sunscreen on before you head out for the day.

Layering tip: I like to put Vichy Mineral 89 over any oil step before topping with moisturizer – for some reason, it helps minimize pilling.

VICHY IDEAL SOLEIL SPORT SPF 60 FACE/BODY

My all-time favourite moisturizing, fragrance-free, water-resistant, high-spf non-mineral sunscreen for face and body is 25% off today! Vichy Ideal Soleil Sport SPF 60 sunscreen ($29.95; on sale for $22.49 at amazon.ca) is a honking 200mL tube of non-mineral UV protection that feels refreshing on application and actually moisturizes dry skin. I can throw it on my face first thing in the AM without additional skincare underneath if I choose, and it won't sweat off me – I'm a sweat waterfall – the way mineral sunscreen does. It can make me cry though, so I just use a mineral sunscreen around my eyes first.

GILLETTE SKINGUARD RAZOR BLADE REFILLS

The best razor blades in the business, Gillette blade cartridges are also pricey. Could it be because they've got PhD-engineer brains designing the manufacturing equipment and rocket scientists overseeing no-nicks design? Absolutely that's part of it, along with extensive research, top-level quality control, and trial programs that record exactly how participants use the products and achieve best results. Plus, Gillette blades last longer than their competition.

Gillette Skinguard Razor Blade Refills for Him (8-pack, $29.97; on sale for $20.99 at amazon.caare excellent for every manly skin type including sensitive because they're designed to deliver smooth, close results without resulting in razor bumps. Stock up; they're 30% off today.

I've included Gillette Venus 5-blade cartridge refills for women here, but frankly there's no deal on Prime Day dot CA. Sure, you could get a 4-pack of cartridges for $20.99 (that's $5.25 per cartridge), but I'm pretty sure this 6-pack of Gillette Venus Extra Smooth Sensitive Skin Razor Blade Refills ($35.99, on sale for $24.99 at shoppersdrugmart.ca) is today's better price – works out to $4.17 per cartridge.

PRIME DAY 1 DEALS

Thought some of these had expired, but have realized after moving a bunch up into "Day 2" that these are probably still valid. Worth checking just in case. As mentioned above, brands such as CeraVe, Gillette, Olay, Aveeno, Garnier (including Ombrelle), Neutrogena, Nivea, La Roche Posay, L'Oreal Paris, Strivectin, Belif and Vichy all still have deals on Amazon.ca's Prime Day 2.

CERAVE BABY HEALING OINTMENT

For slugging purposes, I geeked out Big Time just recently about the difference between the Canadian and American CeraVe Baby Healing Ointment ($12.99; on sale for $10.39 at amazon.caformulas – the Canadian version has a slightly higher ceramide content. Normally priced at less than $15 doesn't make a 20% discount huge, but every little bit of saving counts, especially now. More CeraVe Prime-Day savings here.

L'OREAL PARIS COLOR RADIANCE PURPLE

Banishing brass from blonde is so easy at home with purple-toned care collections readily available at the drugstore. This triple-pack L'Oreal Paris Color Radiance Purple Shampoo/Conditioner (triopack, $12.98; on sale for $9.08 at amazon.ca) is 30% off and takes into account that most of us use more shampoo than we do conditioner; you'll get two bottles of shampoo and one bottle of conditioner for less than $10. More Prime-Day deals on L'Oreal Paris, Garnier and Thayers here.

Happy Prime Day 2 shopping! I wish I had a Canadian connection in these options, but nope.
