Hallo friends! I don’t even know where to start so let me start by telling you to mark your calendars for 2pm EST this Saturday September 30. Do it. Trust me. Why? Uh, that is the exact time of the Great Lakes Lacquer’s Notes To Self Collection launches. Oh, did I mention they’re thermals? Yeah, thermal nail polish wot changes colour as it warms and cools – wheeee!!!

It’s a 4-shade collection that translates into a smillion-shade collection. Temperature matters here, big time. And these shades morph fast when the temperature changes. Like, wicked-fast.
Great Lakes Lacquer A Rose is a Rose Unless It’s a Peach – Notes to Self Collection 2017 (above). There she is in her cold state. If you’ve got a keen eye, yes, those are tiny water beads on my fingers because I submerged them in a bucket of ice water just so I could take this shot for you. I know, I’m kind of awesome. *guffaw*
Great Lakes Lacquer A Rose is a Rose Unless It’s a Peach (above). And warmed up a whole bunch, the rose is a peach! I totally see what you did there, Mariah! I totally do! But wait for it, kids…
Great Lakes Lacquer A Rose is a Rose Unless It’s a Peach (above). With a side salad, it’s a whole different kind of pink that has the holo sparklies! And they’re the fine holo sparklies, exactly the kind I adore! How did you know I needed you to make this polish, Mariah? How?
Great Lakes Lacquer To Thine Own Self Be True – Notes to Self Collection 2017 (above). She’s cold here. And a silvery purple thing that gives me big, fat heart eyes. I don’t really know what it is about the silvery-ness in saturated shades that gets me every, single time.
Great Lakes Lacquer To Thine Own Self Be True w Side Salad (above). And if I hit Thine Self with some grass, not only is the purple a totally different shade in big light, but again, little super-fine holo love!
Great Lakes Lacquer To Thine Own Self Be True (above). Right now you’re all like, whaaaat? Oh yes, that’s the same polish after I stuck my fingers in front of my blow dryer. Yes, that’s the thermal shift. You’re gobsmacked, right? Hold on…
Great Lakes Lacquer To Thine Own Self Be True (above). What’s a synonym for gobsmacked? Oh, right: astounded, astonished, boggled, dumbfounded, dumbstruck....
Great Lakes Lacquer The Grass is Greener For a Reason (above). For me, it’s all about the silvery-ness of these shades indoors at room temperature that just screams #GrabbyHands. I don’t even know if it’s so much the thermal part.
Great Lakes Lacquer The Grass is Greener For a Reason (above). Or maybe it’s the thermal part. I don’t know, man. I just don’t know. But that this went from green like the bottle, to pale gold on the nail just blows my freakin’ mind. No, I didn’t add a salad – I’m leaving something for you to discover on your own. *grin*
Great Lakes Lacquer It Can’t Rain All The Time (above). There’s a soundtrack that’s maybe one of the best soundtracks of ever from one of the best movies of ever… Never mind. Here, please enjoy this cold-state swatch.
Great Lakes Lacquer It Can’t Rain All the Time (above). And now enjoy the cold-state swatch with a side of salad, because the salad pops the light dusting of holos.
Great Lakes Lacquer It Can’t Rain All The time (above). I figured you should probably get a look at how this stuff changes when your hands get warmer. She’s just almost at mid-shift here. Sort of a neat ombré deal, huh?
Great Lakes Lacquer It Can’t Rain All The Time (above). And fully warm, she’s this most amazing polished stone. I don’t know how this stuff works, so to me it’s all just magic, wonder and amazement.
Great Lakes Lacquer It Can’t Rain All The Time (above). And if I take my warm hands and whack ‘em with light, the holos… they’re the most delicate sprinkling of holos that don’t overpower, but just add some simple pretty. Gimme.
And sadly, that’s it. I know you want there to be more of these shades, but there are only 4. I’m sure if they’re well received when they go on sale Saturday September 30th at 2pm EST, we’ll see many more amazeballz thermals from Great Lakes Lacquer.
Oh yeah! Application! Uh, dreamy. They’re all 3 thin coats (that dry pretty quickly) of smooth, easy-painting formulas, plus my Revlon QDTC. I gotta say it’s my first go shooting thermals, and there was a little bit of a learning curve, so I hope the pictures give you a good sense of what you’ll see once you throw all of these in your cart, locate your hubby’s wallet, pull the “Buy Now” trigger, and have 'em show up in your mailbox.
