Hola kindred sprit! Today we're talking Pahlish. You get it, right? Of course you do!
Oh, first you want to know Pahlish has been around since 2012, is owned and operated by a husband and wife team, and brews out of Nashville, Tennesee? Okay. But you know you can find that information on their website, right? I'll link you to it down there.
Now, swatches!! Wheeee!!!
pahlish june 2017 swatches & review
Hmm… where to start… where to start… Oh! I know!
Pahlish Snapdragon – June 2017 Collection (above). Good gravy that’s pretty! You’re lookin’ at 2 coats with a formula that’s just aces. The finish here is satin-matte and you know me, I dig a matte! Even better, I dig a matte with speckly sparkles!
Pahlish Snapdragon w Top Coat – June 2017 Collection (above). Fine, yes I know not everyone digs matte as much as I do so here, have your swatch with top coat. Delightful either way, amiright?
Pahlish Neverland w Top Coat – June 2017 Collection (above). Another pretty that’s insanely similar to Snapdragon; this one has a crazy-fine, darned-near-invisible turquoise shimmer instead of sparkly flakes. Perhaps just a touch more subdued, but I’m wickedly in love with this bright pink-y purple-y lilac.
Pahlish Fin and Pearl – June 2017 Collection (above). Again, that’s just 2 coats of Pahlish and my brush was a teeny tiny bit warped out at the ends so I have a coupla drag marks that you’ll be able to see if you have keen eyeballs. Had I slapped a coat of top over it, it would have levelled out. But I didn’t. I like the satin-matte-ness. You know I do.
Pahlish Mermaid Tails w Top Coat – June 2017 Collection (above). This polish actually kinda fascinated me. Here at my desk, with just my normal kind of window light, it looks just like this. A little bit dusty cornflower blue with that same delicate turquoise shimmer.
Pahlish Mermaid Tails w Top Coat & Salad (above). Yes, salad is the new word for grass. You can thank RNK for that. But yeah, If I hit the same dusty cornflower with some light (and some salad), I get this solid, bright in-yer-face-not-messing-around cornflower blue. Both shots are totally accurate. Fascinating!
Pahlish Lagoon – June 2017 Collection (above). That’s 2 sorta thicker-than-I-usually-do coats and that’s probably just because I had those same brush issues that I have with a lot of indies. I don’t find these mass-market bulk-order brushes to have the same kind of quality control that mainstream ones do. Sometimes they’re cut perfectly and sometimes they’re not. Good thing I have me that brush-hack though, huh? (insert clever smile here).
Pahlish Bluebird Café – June 2017 Collection (above). Ooooh! Lookit dat crazy bright foil-y thing! The swatch on the Pahlish website looks not-so-much like this. This bottle is hugely more brilliantly pewter-y green-y aqua, and I’m okay with that. Besides, I like making up my own shade descriptors because “stormy blue foil” doesn’t particularly fit what’s in this bottle. Indie batches do differ though, so sometimes this happens.
Pahlish Peach Truck – June 2017 Collection (above). Another bright foil! Man, I loves me some foil! This one was also an easy 2 coats but I tell ya what, getting the shimmer off my fingers after swatching was tricky. How does Manigeek deal with stubborn shimmer that’s stuck all over her fingers? Microfibre, that’s how. Sure it feels gross but it works. #TrustMe – and lemme know if you need a video demo on that move, 'k?
Pahlish Phlox – June 2017 Collection (above). Gah! Right now I have such #BigHeartEyes that I can’t even! It’s 2 coats and it’s SO good. Gah!
Pahlish Magic Moon – June 2017 Collection (above). OhMyHolyBabyBatmanz! Like, whuuuuut? Do you see that shift? Whuuuut??
Pahlish Magic Moon again (above). Come on! Are you serious? Words pretty much escape me. Here’s the link for you to just go buy your own.
Pahlish Magic Moon with a side of salad (above). Oh yes, that’s the same Pahlish. With grass, it’s that. I know! I know! 100% Amaze!!
So here’s the thing. I saw a whole bunch of Pahlish at Indie Expo Canada 2017 but I totally blew my wad of dough early and had to come home and wait for Nick’s wallet to recharge. Once it did, I pointed Nick’s wallet directly at Pahlish.com and found this full June 2017 Collection just sitting there waiting. You can get you a set too! Or just the shades that holler at you! So? Whatchagonnado, huh?
Oh! Wait! One final note before I excuse you: while you’re there, don’t look at the sale stuff or the new Christmas in July collection, k? It’s dangerous. Consider yourself warned.
BTW, it's Made in Canada month on Beautygeeks, so we're focussing a bit on some great Canadian beauty brands and related stuffs. Here, although Pahlish is a US brand, without the obviously Canadian Indie Expo Canada, we'd never have met this indie polish and fallen for Magic Moon.
