In the realm of what-took-them-so-long collaborations, Clinique Crayola Chubby Stick Moisturizing Lip Colour Balm ($21 CAD and $17 USD at sephora.com) is tops. Seriously, this should have happened within two years of the debut of Clinique's Chubby Stick lippies, don't you think? But then or now, we're just as charmed.
A January 2017 limited-edition launch, the Clinique Crayola Chubby Stick Moisturizing Lip Colour Balm collection features 10 shades matched to much-loved Crayola colours such as Mauvelous, Wild Strawberry, Mango Tango and Tickle Me Pink. (I actually can't remember a single Crayola shade name from my childhood. *shrug* You?)
I tried Pink Sherbert, Wild Strawberry and Mauvelous, and I love them. Pink Sherbert is the sweetest shade (I have to hide it from my 11-year-old niece Lauren's #grabbyhands); Wild Strawberry is a flatters-everyone youthful pink red, and Mauvelous delivers a bitten-lip or post-snog finish I adore.
The satisfyingly emollient formula is lightweight and sheer, and glides on easily. I apply until I've got the colour as intense as possible (exhibit A).
Unlike most lip balm and lipstick, the Clinique Crayola Chubby Stick finish never looks or feels thick on the lips. The wear doesn't last all that well if you're drinking or eating something, but that's to be expected from a sheer, emollient, lightweight texture. Re-application is a cinch, and comfortable for as long as it's on. If you're already a fan of Clinique Chubby Sticks lip colour, you know what I mean.
