Hi! It’s me, Karen! And guess what! I bought the China Glaze Spring Fling 2017 Collection and I swatched it all and now I’m going to write some junk to go with some pictures I took for you!
Before we start, I gotta tell you that as an experienced Archiver, this collection feels awfully unfocused. It feels Spring, Summer, Fall, and even Holiday. How do I wrap my brainz around that? Simple. I look at each bottle as a stand-alone shade; as if I were a newb at the checkout and these are lined up for me to impulse-buy. After all, that's the major market for nail polish (it sure ain’t us).
china glaze spring fling swatches & review
China Glaze Blanc Out – Spring Fling Collection 2017 (above). That’s only 2 coats for really decent coverage. Here, blown out with artificial light, it looks like white with maybe a drop of grey.
China Glaze Blanc Out – Spring Fling Collection 2017 (above). But here, with only natural light, you can see it’s really a touch of blue. The paint colour in my living room is called Raindrops and this is a perfect match!
China Glaze Life is Suite! – Spring Fling Collection 2017 (above). Mother told me that if I have nothing nice to say, I shouldn’t say anything at all. But it’s my job to say stuff, so I’ll keep it short: No. Just say no. Why? Because it’s garbage. That's my 3rd try, it's matte, it dries waaay too fast, doesn't level, and is just junk. If you have little nails, you might be okay. Otherwise, #TrustMe.
China Glaze We Run This Beach – Spring Fling Collection 2017 (above). My notes? You want my notes? Okay!! “Superbly drippy off the brush wand. Grrrrrrrrr. 3 coats + many blobs on my desk. Not going to lie – I got skillz, but I really felt I had to muscle this, big time. Skip it.”
China Glaze I Just Cant-aloupe – Spring Fling Collection 2017 (above). 2 easy coats! She’s a tiny bit thin, but still awesomely easy to work. I don’t peachy-melon often, but if I were gonna, I'd probably reach for this one.
China Glaze Suns Out, Buns Out over I Just Cant-aloupe (above). How ‘bout that! That’s 1 coat of the orangey-gold thingy over my melon, and it’s beautifully flashy, ain’t it? It’s like lookin’ at stuff at the beach. That might be weird for you in Spring, but I say you buy this now and wear it all summer long. She can muddy up the base shade a little, so just make sure you don't pick anything too white, k?
China Glaze Moment in the Sun (above). Oooh! Interesting! It’s a molten peachy golden shimmery love potion! You’re going to roll your eyes on the 1st coat and think “Oh crap, why did I buy this – it’s gonna take forever to get to opaque!” Don’t fret, it’s only going to take you 2 coats. 2! I know! Amaze! And did I mention the finish here is beauty? Uh huh. It is. Melty, glowy, beauty.
China Glaze Kiss My Sherbet Lips – Spring Fling Collection 2017 (above). Holy ballz! I have beaucoup de love (aka iWantDatGiveMeDat) for this deep fuchsia pink. Usually you’ll see shades like these stuffed with tiny bits of blue microshimmer, but here, the blue pigment is in the polish and the shimmer is actually kind of coppery gold. You’re lookin ‘at 2 easy coats, and she’s going to require top coat to bring out her best side.
China Glaze Kiss My Sherbet Lips (above). When you can get good light to smack this polish in the face, the golden shimmer pops it to a whole ‘nuther kind of bright and lively pink. Golly, I love her.
China Glaze Suns Out, Buns Out over Kiss My Sherbet Lips (above). More shimmerz for the win!! Oh. 1 coat of this over 2 coats of that.
China Glaze Crushin’ on Blue – Spring Fling Collection 2017 (above). If you take your China Glaze Frostbite, lighten up a tad on the cobalt (that's the pigment that makes this smell like weeeeed) saturation, and add some top coat to the bottle, I’m pretty sure you can get this here shade. Again it’s one of those molten sort of things that has tons of life under it. That’s 3 coats, and when the light hits it just right, it’s amazingly reflective – you know, like the ocean in summer sun!
China Glaze Crushin’ on Blue (above). With less light, it’s still got a special kind of radiance that puts it squarely in #GimmieThat territory.
Sally Hansen Snow Globe over Crushin’ on Blue (above). Why? Uh, because it was on my desk? Also, because I kinda like it. Subtle opalescent confetti glitter? What’s not to like?
China Glaze Don’t Teal My Vibe (above). Gah! It’s that amazeballz finish again! I don’t even have the words. Come on, tell me that doesn’t look like melted silver in a gorgeous aquamarine turquoise to you. It does. It totally does. I can’t even.
China Glaze Don’t Teal My Vibe (above). And in lower light, I still can’t even. And yes, a little brushy but I’m gonna do a Speed Swatch for you soon so you can see exactly how I painted it on to minimize the brush strokes. Hang tight – it’s comin’.
China Glaze Too Much of a Good Fling (above). Hey! Spring! I know a lot of you out there are drawn to this minty shade of Spring and if you don’t already have a similar, this one is good. That’s 2 easy coats that self-level and pop a good shine.
Sally Hansen Snow Globe over Too Much of a Good Fling (above). Yep, that there glitter top coat is still on mah desk.
China Glaze Beach It Up – Spring Fling Collection 2017 (above). Hey, Manigeek! Why u shoot this fuzzy and from so far away? Well, that’s because it’s the only way to make it look good. Don’t worry, I’ll prove it…
China Glaze Beach It Up – Spring Fling Collection 2017 (above). You wanna touch it to see if it’s textured – I can tell you wanna.
China Glaze Beach It Up (above). Why someone didn’t whack the “abort” button on this is beyond me. Here’s mah notes: “2 coats. Hahahahahahahah!! What the hell?? Hahahhahahhaa!!” Into The Archives you go, Beach It Up. Gotta keep the fugs – just gotta.
China Glaze It’s A-boat Time! – Spring Fling Collection 2017 (above). That’s 3 coats to the pearly-frost almost-chrome finish. She’s stroke-y though, so you’ll need to use very quick, very straight strokes with no pressure to get it on there lookin’ good.
China Glaze It’s A-boat Time! (above). In the right light, she’ll show you her true colour is a sage-y silver. She’s cool, but not cold – know what I mean? In the right light, she’ll absolutely give you #GrabbyHands. She’s one of my 3 must-buy shades from this 12-shade collection.
So there you are, fellow polish nerdies! The 12-shade Spring 2017 China Glaze Collection! Some of it I really love and some of it I wanted to hurl out my 16-floor window. Now that you’ve seen it, what are your thoughts? Anything grab ya? Huh? Let’s chat!
