If you're aware that pop star Gwen Stefani and country star Blake Shelton (above) have been dating since she was a coach on his TV-gig, "The Voice," then it's not so surprising that Gwen has become the newest global ambassador for the brand whose motto is "Love is On," and new campaign is "Choose Love."
Aside: Gwen was an awesome coach on "The Voice." Much as I enjoyed Miley Cyrus (also awesome – I hope rumours of a feud with Blake and Adam were overstated) and Alicia Keys, I miss Pharrell and Gwen.
Yet, although I made the Gwen + Revlon connection quickly because "The Voice" is one of my favourite shows, I was initially a bit startled by Gwen as a choice for Revlon. It's strategic on Revlon's part – Gwen is fresh off a successful Urban Decay collab, and she's been big into the nail game with OPI, too. Plus there's that lovey-dovey thing she and Blake are still doing. Also, as noted in the Revlon press release, "15 million devoted social-media fans and followers."
But is this partnership Gwen? Urban Decay made every kind of sense the second word dropped. Revlon is far more mainstream.
Perhaps for Gwen it's the "Love is On/Choose Love" business, stuff I've never been wild about probably on account of being a spinster. *grin* (Yes, I know there are all kinds of love, blah blah blah, but anyone who tries to tell you that lushly framed eyes and cushiony lips are all about how much you love your nieces is selling something.)
Let's look at some Gwen-Stefani-for-Revlon images (screen-crapped from the video that follows) while we muse:
In this shot, Gwen is about to blow a kiss on the set of her Revlon photoshoot. I screen-capped it because I want to know what shade of polish that is – I've gotta ask our Manigeek. Think we'll see a Gwen + Revlon nail polish collection out of this collaboration?
Update: our ManiGeek says she can't be sure, but Gwen might be wearing Revlon Nail Enamel in Vixen... and according to info via official channels, ManiGeek is right.
If you're a Gwen fan, you probably already know her longtime hairstylist is Danilo; that's him up there on the right. We spoke with him a while back about the hair stuff he used on the set of "The Voice."
Also, this is what 47 looks like when you're Gwen Stefani.
I love this makeup on Gwen. She wore something like this on the cover of her most recent CD, This is What Truth Looks Like; I call it her "natural" look.
I know, weird shot to include, but I just love that eyeshadow combination. The defining shade is so soft and subtle; I think too many women go way too dark with their contour and defining shadow. This is fresh and youthful, yet totally made up. And the blush and highlight – sorry, strobing – is perfection.
Here, watch these photos move in this Gwen + Revlon BTS video:

And did you know Gwen was into eyewear? I was caught by this photo and decided to include it because – why not? Or maybe because I love that lip colour, and the frames, too.
Gwen has two collections with eyewear manufacturer Tura (which targets "the fashionable woman over 30 years old"): gx by Gwen Stefani and L.A.M.B. I kind of love them all. I'm not certain, but it looks as though most of the frames are Asian-fit friendly, flat across the bridge rather than curved.
But for you, is Gwen a natural for the Revlon brand?
