I don't know why, but this year I'm really struggling with the end of the festive stretch. ManiGeek and I grew up with a Christmas season that doesn't end until January 6th. On the 7th, it's time to take down the lights and the tree and all the pretty sparkle that makes winter bearable.
I'm going to leave my little tree and twinkly lights on until the end of this month, and I'm going to use Chinese New Year as an excuse.
Actually Chinese New Year was never a big thing for us, even though Mum is Chinese (she's Year of the Dragon; ManiGeek is Year of the Dog and I'm a Monkey). I always wished it were because I love an excuse for a Chinese feast.
I also love an excuse to have this year's Giorgio Armani Chinese New Year Illuminating Palette ($108 CAD at thebay.com and $88 USD at neimanmarcus.com), and not just because it's pretty and also Armani.
This Armani Fire Rooster Illuminating Palette is educational for people like me who don't know much about the Chinese Zodiac. (I know. I'm a disgrace to half of me.) Open the compact and you know right away which Zodiac year it is. See? The satiny matte nude powder is embossed with a rooster, a "sign of illumination," according to this website. (Sadly, I do not have last year's edition, which featured the Monkey.)
The pressed powder's luminosity comes from two types of pearl; Armani calls them Bright Radiance Pearl and Ivory Pearl. Together they promise to make the skin glow in that lit-from-within way.
Definitely educational, right? Obviously a must-have.
You have thoughts? Do you celebrate Chinese New Year? Do you have any of Armani's Chinese New Year Illuminating Palettes?
