If you're way into your brows, you likely know Benefit Gimme Brow ($30 CAD and $24 USD at sephora.com), probably the best-known tinted fibre gel that thickens, darkens and keeps brows in place with a few swipes of the wand. It comes in three shades; the darkest is a cool black-brown, a hard-to-find brow shade. (Most "deep brown" brow colours are warm, too red for those of us with near-black hair and pale skin.)
Hard Candy has a brow-builder too, a Brows Now! Fiberized Brow Gel & Brow Highlighter ($6 USD at walmart.com) that comes in two shades, Light/Medium and Medium/Dark.
The new Maybelline Brow Precise Fiber Volumizer Mascara ($11.99 CAD at drugstores and $9.99 USD at ulta.com) is a lot like those, except the wand is a very different shape and the kind price point hits much closer to Hard Candy's than Benefit's.
See? Funny-shaped brush thingy, with a well of fibrous tinted gel in the centre. Actually, it reminds me of the Revlon All-In-One Mascara brush, although a rather larger, longer and flatter, one-sided version. *grin*
At the moment Brow Precise Fiber Volumizer comes in Blonde and Soft Brown. Could be other shades such as auburn and dark brown will launch in future; no word on that yet.
I'm sorry, I haven't tried this stuff yet because when you're slapping makeup on in the back of a moving vehicle, you don't want to try a brow gel that is likely to be too red or warm a shade for your I-need-black-brown brows.
But look, I have a spur-of-the-moment video I shot with my iPhone when Maybelline New York Canada Lead Artist Grace Lee demonstrated Brow Precise Fiber Volumizer backstage pre-fashion show recently. It's noisy, and model Ariel was already wearing makeup by the time my appointment slot came around. Still, you get a good idea of what this fibre brow gel + funny-looking brush can do.
Did you catch the part where Grace says Ariel already has Brow Drama on? It's the clear brow grooming gel, and I'm thinking it should work like a good primer base for Fiber Volumizer if you want to thicken really skinny brow hair. I may try that myself.
Have you tried Maybelline Brow Precise Fiber Volumizer
