I have such beauty envy over this Nars Audacious Collection visual. And major sunglasses envy. The makeup collection sadly won't make me look like stunning model Aya Jones, but it's worth coveting nonetheless.
The Nars Audacious Collection (at narscosmetics.com now; at other retailers come September 1st) is a simple but big-impact range of two black liquid liners, four brow enhancers and five lipsticks.
Let's oggle the Nars still-life product shots:
Let's start with the new brow creams, shall we?
nars audacious brow defining cream
Although not ideal for back-of-the-Uber application because it means having to juggle a makeup brush, a spoolie, the jar and its lid, the Nars Brow Defining Cream ($29 CAd and $23 USd at sephora.com and nordstrom.com) from the Fall 2016 Audacious collection is worth investigating.
I'm not used to a cream formula (I've relied on brow markers for years now), but the learning curve isn't so bad. The formula is satisfyingly pigmented and easy to blend through with a spoolie. I don't have the Nars brush, but my Smashbox brow brush is aces (its stiff bristles = good control).
The dark brown looks like a cool brown, but really it's in-between. And it's just slightly too warm for me.
See? Perhaps if I had denser brow hair, the slight warmth wouldn't matter. Or maybe I should try a more intense application. And attempt it at home rather than in a moving car.
The dark brown shade doesn't appear to be an issue for makeup artist Janice Daoud in this Nars brow-cream tutorial. She likes a more pronounced application, though, and has darker brows than I have. *shrug*

The other is Matte; it looks rather more grey on the skin, and gets a bit patchy if you go over it too much as I did in a previous, seriously horrible swatch image I had to delete.
nars audacious lipsticks
You need at least one from this range of gorgeous Nars Audacious Lipstick ($39 CAd and $32 USd at sephora.com and nordstrom.com). You do. Creamy and rich with pigment, they deliver excellent colour payoff and comfort as well as good wear.
From left to right: Nars Audacious Lipstick in Shirley, Apoline, Kate, Mona and Stefania. Stefania, Apoline and Shirley are already becoming good friends of mine. See swatches below.
I am in big-time love with Nars Audacious Lipstick in Shirley applied as a stain. It looks far more pink-based than the bullet suggests. Adore.
Applied fully, Nars Audacious Lipstick in Shirley is a traffic-stopping crimson. I'm leaning toward calling it a true red vs a blue-red.
I don't usually do nude-esque lip colour unless it's just lip balm, but I've been wearing Nars Audacious Lipstick in Apoline since I photographed it. The swatch photo shows the shade as a bit more delicately pink than I think it is in real-life; I'll have to post a selfie on Instagram when I wear it next. Nars describes it as a "pink rose" shade.
The description of Nars Audacious Lipstick in Kate is "purple orchid," and I think that's exactly right. Tricky for back-of-the-cab application because it's so vibrant and pigmented that you need a steady hand, Kate is one of those head-turning lipstick shades that means you can fly out of the house wearing it with just mascara (and brow definer if you need it *points to self*).
Obviously all the vibrant shades in this collection can be worn as punctuation for minimal makeup. This one is Nars Audacious Lipstick in Mona, a bricky mahogany. It photographs more red than mahogany, and looks quite similar to Shirley, but has a warmer undertone. Need a warm red? Try this one.
Nars Audacious Lipstick in Stefania is the exhibitionist in the collection. Look at that vivid, here-I-am deep fuchsia! Playful yet sophisticated, she's going to be one of my BFFs this Fall.
All right, lovelies, what do you think? What's going on your Fall beauty list?
