Whew! The last 20 of the 80-shade CND Creative Play nail polish marathon! It’s been such a thrill – for real! – to be able to bring all these to your side of the screen. I hope you’ve enjoyed and that there are at least a handful that grab you!
These are what’s on tap for today:
The letter codes in the brackets tell you what the finish is and there are short descriptions with the swatches. I’ll leave a whack of links to the other posts at the bottom, but today, it's the last 20 swatches of 80. Wheeeeee!!!
cnd creative play nail polish swatches
CND Creative Play Read My Tulips (above). Crème in two quick coats.
CND Creative Play Red-y to Roll (above). Crème and perfect in two easy coats. I would absolutely recommend you use base with this shade. You know you should anyhow, right?
CND Creative Play Royalista (above). Crème. Not a particularly original shade of blue, but the formula… so good! That’s two coats.
CND Creative Play Sea The Light (above). Metallic. That’s 3 coats and I still have slight visible nail lines, but you need at least three to achieve depth of colour.
CND Creative Play See U in Sienna (above). Pearl. I don’t think I’d call this pearl but I’d definitely call it a jelly effect with shimmer sitting just underneath it. I dig it, man! Oh – two coats!
CND Creative Play Sexy + I Know It (above). Crème. That’s two coats and my notes say the level is spotty. I might have slapped it on too thick, so try two thinner coats, ya?
CND Creative Play Shamrock on You (above). Metallic. Every single year around March 17 I troll through my archives looking for this exact shade of green and have always come up empty. No more. This green wins for all the March 17 things ever. Two crazy shimmertastical coats.
CND Creative Play Ship-notized (above). Shimmer. She’s a shimmery frosty deal that took me three coats to get to about 95% opaque. She’ll require slight dry time between coats so you don’t pull up all your hard work.
CND Creative Play Skinny Jeans (above). Crème. My notes? “Darker than bottle. Two coats = heart. But basecoat! Trust me!”
CND Creative Play Steel the Show (above). Crème. That’s two coats and this shade is one of those you really don’t see often so if it speaks to you, get it. You’ll have to flip your brush but hey, for a shade like this, it’s worth it!
CND Creative Play Su-Pearl-ative (above). Metallic. That’s two coats and I know a-lotta people aren’t going to like this frosty deal. Do I? Yeah – but I’m a freak. I like frosts the same way Kellie Gonzo likes bar glitter. There’s just no accounting for taste, right? Ha!
CND Creative Play Take the $$$ (above). Metallic. Two coats of a coppery rose gold shimmery metallic. The streaks dry down enough for me to love it. A lot.
CND Creative Play Taxi, Please (above). Crème. My notes here say “Two coats – very light hand or fail”. That’s it.
CND Creative Play The Fuchsia is Ours (above). Shimmer. Oddly enough, this one pulled away from the free edge just enough for me to notice, so cap your free edge with the base coat and again with your first coat of polish. This shade… unhhhh… those little blue flashies get me every.single.time.
CND Creative Play Toe the Lime (above). Crème. Okay… wait for it… OCW!!!! I know, right?
CND Creative Play Tutu Be or Not To Be (above). Pearl. You’re lookin’ at two coats of a sheer shimmer there. Could I build it to opaque? If I had time to do 17 coats and wait for ‘em to dry, sure!
CND Creative Play Tutu Be or Not To Be over A Lilac-y Story (above). Just one coat over my two coats of the lilac – pretteh!!
CND Creative Play Tutu Be or Not To Be over I Like To Mauve It (above). Again, a single coat of my Tutu over my mauve. Tutu is an excellent topper. If you haven’t got one like it, you might want to think about this one.
CND Creative Play Urge to Splurge (above). Metallic. She’s almost opaque in three and I’m okay with that.
CND Creative Play Urge to Splurge over Su-Pearl-ative (above). See? Frosty underpants have their uses! That’s one coat of the silvery shimmer over my frosty pearly white.
CND Creative Play Viral Violet (above). Shimmer. This thing was kind of neat. It’s a magenta-fied purple and on the second coat, the blue shimmer really comes out to play. It’s special. I’m keeping this bottle forever.
CND Creative Play Well Red (above). Crème. The notes? “More like pink but whatevz. Two coats. Good formula.” My notes are best!
CND Creative Play You’ve Got Kale (above). Crème. That’s two coats of this clean springy green. Level and shine (like the vast majority of these 80 shades) is perfect.
And holy crap! That’s it! I’m almost sad it’s over. When you sit down to swatch 80 shades and it’s this easy, it’s a real treat. Rest assured that if these shades weren’t good, there’s no way I’d even have attempted 80 swatches. But I did and shade after shade brought a smile.
The metallics are my favourites and the crèmes are all good formulas. The transformer shades and glitter shades are fun, but if y’ask me, it’s those jewel-toned shimmery shades that really wow. Highly pigmented with easy application and removal – what’s not to love?
You can get your CND Creative Play shades on Amazon.com right now, and hopefully soon CND will find a great retailer so we can all head to the store and fill our baskets. If that's no good, I hear nailpolishcanada.com is also carrying 65 shades (thanks for that head's up, Cath!) and from now until June 30th, 2016, they're all 20% off with the coupon code PLAY20.
