Greetings fellow polish nerdies! Today a rare treat! A collection of nudies! Yes, it’s the OPI Infinite Shine summer 2016 collection and it’s called The Nuances of Neutral. Shall we look?
opi infinite shine summer 2016 swatches & review
I don’t wear neutrals much simply because they always pop me some really awesome lobster hands and mostly, I don’t care for lobster hands. If your skin tone is different from mine and/or you’re a neutral fan, these might be just the thing for you! Or not.
OPI Infinite Shine No Strings Attached (above). Starting here, you’re looking at two coats where I should actually have used three. It’s close to being okay but at two coats, it’s still a bit patchy in places.
OPI Infinite Shine Staying Neutral On This One (above). Again, two coats but they weren’t easy. It’s a little patchy down the sidewalls and I’m far too lazy to wait another five minutes to do a third coat.
OPI Infinite Shine Don’t Ever Stop! (above). Oh! A salmony neutral! It’s got a bunch of white stuffed into it and the formula is tricky but doable in two if you’re slow, careful, and give yourself a couple minutes of dry time between coats.
OPI Infinite Shine Hurry Up & Wait (above). That’s two coats again but I left a good five minutes of dry time between them. I’m not sure why, but I found all of these shades hard to work with.
OPI Infinite Shine No Stopping Zone (above). Wow. I have zero love for this formula/brush combo. What you’re looking at there is my third attempt to get this junk on and have it look reasonably good. That’s three coats. You can see the streaks and lack of level, right? And we won’t even talk about the struggle at the cuticle line. Three tries and three coats? Hahahaa! No.
OPI Infinite Shine Can’t Stop Myself (above). This peachy-orange neutral was a delightful repeat of the experience I had with No Stopping Zone. That’s three coats with the third being entirely blobtastic in order to get some kind of level. Also, crustacean hands. Yay!
I don’t know if it’s me or if it’s humid or if it’s the product but after swatching all 6 of these shades in a row, I can safely say that I have no love for this collection and that’s not because I don’t find the shades appealing, but simply because for me, the formulas were hugely aggravating to work with. I like a couple of the colours but the amount of work to get them perfect is too much of a commitment for me.
You might have a wholly different technique from mine though – one that goes well with this brush/polish combo. If that’s the case, I’m sure you’ll love the OPI Infinite Shine Summer 2016 Nuances of Neutral. Me? I find myself squarely in the No Stopping Zone.
Availability: OPI IS Summer 2016 will be available from your usual OPI places like ulta.com as of July 1st. It's already available on amazon.com but as always, it's best to buy from a licensed retailer.
