DIOR SUMMER 2016: MILKY DOTS MAKEUP
The Dior Summer 2016 Milky Dots makeup collection speaks directly to my snapshot-happy side. I make no claims about being a photographer; I just like to take pictures of pretty things. Dior is one of those beauty brands that insists on being in front of a lens when the opportunity presents itself, especially after cold, grey winter. Who can resist all that happy new colour come May?
Sure, Dior's hot-weather shades are usually combinations of golden sand, bronze, coral and bright ocean blue, and the bronzers look similar from year to year. Does it matter? Whether 2012, 2014 or 2016, a Dior summer is a season of jet-set glamour. No flip-flops here, and my camera is totally into it. So let's look at too many shots of the current collection.
See? Golden sand, sun-soaked gold, shimmery rich bronze... meet the Dior 5-Colour Polka Dots eyeshadow compact in 536 Escapade ($73 CAd at sephora.ca and $63 USd at nordstrom.com). No polka dots inside, by the way, just on the box the compact comes in.
The more adventurous summer eyeshadow palette of the two always has blue, as per the Dior 5-Colour Polka Dot compact in 366 Bain de Mer ($73 CAd at sephora.ca and $63 USd at nordstrom.com).
Hands up if you're a fan of Dior Diorskin Nude Air Glow Powder ($68 CAd at sephora.ca and $56 USd at nordstrom.com). This is where I confess that I've not been able to mess one up with a brush just yet. And this is where I realize that I should because chances are that next year's isn't going to look much different. The compact on the left in the above photo is 002 Fresh Light; the one on the right is Fresh Tan. North America has only these two shades.
Asia has this lovely soft Diorskin Nude Air Glow Powder in 015 Fresh Coral...
...as well as this pastel-hued 025 Fresh Rose.
Europe has Diorskin Nude Air Glow Powder in a deeper bronze 003 Warm Tan and 004 Warm Light (above).
This Dior Diorskin Nude Air Summer Glow Loose Powder ($68 CAd at sephora.ca and $56 USd at sephora.com) is about summer strobing, if you will. Dior describes it as "amber light," with pearlescent and copper pigments that mimic sun-kissed radiance. I haven't tried it yet... lemme get my self-tan on first, okay?
UPDATE: I tried it; here's the Dior Nude Air Summer Glow loose powder verdict and photo evidence. *grin*
But here's a Diorskin Nude Air Summer Glow Loose Powder swatch I found on Instagram. (Hmmm. Perhaps worth trying on pale skin after all.)
I love these Dior Addict Milky Tint ($43 CAd at sephora.ca and $35 USd at nordstrom.com) shades, but am still not quite over my stupid lip-reaction thing. *sigh* So arm swatches: 376 Milky Pop, 156 Milky Pastel and 286 Milky Plum. Not shown: 356 Milky Peach.
More photos – these are slated for Instagram – just because:

The most adorable part of this Dior Summer 2016 collection, though, is all about nails: three Polka Dots Colour & Dots Manicure Kits, all swatched by our ManiGeek.
These little kits are beyond sweet, and they make uhmazing gifts for anyone who loves nail polish, right? Also, that Dior dotting tool! Who saw that coming? Squeee!
Anything calling your name? Have you picked anything up from this collection? Are you planning to? Is anyone else bummed that we don't have the Dior Nude Air Glow Powder in Fresh Coral and Fresh Rose? Or in Warm Light?
