OPI Oh My Majesty! – OPI Alice Through the Looking Glass 2016 (above). Let’s start right here with this pretty thing! The formula on this pearly opalescent marshmallow white is surprisingly good. I used two coats and stopped there. Yes, there are still VNL but I think the touch of sheer adds something. It’s delicately shimmery in what OPI calls “a supremely beautiful pearly alabaster.” There’s an incredibly fine shimmer in there that I think is actually red but ends up showing as that special flash of pink.
OPI I’m Gown for Anything! – OPI Alice Through the Looking Glass 2016 (above). This creamy lilac is my collection winner. It’s my star. My favourite. A 10/10 on the #GrabbyHands scale. The temptation with shades like these is to try and do as thick a coat as you can to get good coverage and level. Don’t do that or you’ll just end up angry. Do two moderate coats instead of thin ones and don’t overload your brush. She feels like she’ll be chalky but she’s not. Polish gently and you’ll end up with perfect coverage. Later on (down there somewhere), we’re gonna see if I have anything in The Archives that comes remotely close. Exciting times!
OPI The I’s Have it – OPI Alice Through the Looking Glass 2016 (above). The first of two blues, this baby-boy-powder-blue was a thin, migratory kind of polish. I didn’t love the formula here – it was patchy in two and still patchy in three. You’re looking at three coats there. Because of the magic of interwebz compression, it looks great in the photo, but from my eyeball-actual point of view, it’s not quite good enough. It could have used a 4th coat for streak-free level, but four coats + me = “hellz, no.”
OPI Fearlessly Alice – OPI Alice Through the Looking Glass 2016 (above). Blue #2 is a stunningly clean, bright, bold peacock blue. Formula-wise, it’s perfect in two magnificently easy coats. I’ve heard rumours of staining so I’ll mention I had zero staining. I’ll also mention it was only on my nails for a matter of minutes so your results may vary. I remove using 100% pure acetone and a textured cotton pad. When removing reds, blues, and greens, I use one pad per nail and pull the polish straight off the nail. No twisting – twisting will get you stained cuticles and sidewalls. No twisting. No.
OPI Mad for Madness Sake – OPI Alice Through the Looking Glass 2016 (above). Gah! It’s my favourite kind of raspberry-fuchsia-esque pink! You can almost OCW! (One Coat Wonder) this shade with very slight VNL but unless coverage is perfect in one, I always suggest you do two for maximum results. The formula? Sweeeeet! The shade? Uh… it might be stupendously dupetastic (or not) so hang tight – we’re getting there!
OPI Having a Big Head Day – OPI Alice Through the Looking Glass 2016 (above). My notes here are fun: “Two coats. Watch your cuticles. She’ll getcha if you’re not careful.” There’s not much more to say about a red like this is there? Except maybe you already have at least one or two or 12 OPI reds just like it?
OPI What’s the Hatter With You? – OPI Alice Through the Looking Glass 2016 (above). I got nuthin’ but love for this great deep beet-berry crème. The formula is perfect in two and you’ll want top coat for extra protection and extra shine, right?
OPI A Mirror Escape – OPI Alice Through the Looking Glass 2016 (above). Sometimes my polish notes really are perfect! Here’s exactly what I wrote: “Three coats to erase all VNL. Dries down to a satin-matte-stucco finish that feels like stucco. Tiny, not-flat white & dove grey bits in the metallic foil-y-silvery-gold polish. I have NO idea what’s going on here but I do know that I want to pick at it. Two massive coats of top will smooth it out a bit and pop a shine. Right now I’m looking at it from all angles and thinking “WTF OPI? WTF?”
I think it’s okay to tell you I handed my sister the swatch stick and said “Here – enjoy.” She said “Stucco? Is that stucco?” Yes, sister. It’s stucco.
OPI What Time Isn’t It? – OPI Alice Through the Looking Glass 2016 (above). And lastly, we have this here “Special Edition” shade. Um, I don’t know how OPI is selling a “Special Edition” shade (it even has a special box and pumped up price tag!) along with a Limited-Edition collection. If the collection is limited, then all the shades are “special” – aren’t they? But I digress. The simple truth is that from arm’s length (ie 27” or just over two feet away), this shade looks pretty okay! That’s two coats by the way. Two coats to perfectly furry silver-bar-glitter charcoal grey muppet-ness. Oh! Here’s OPI’s description: “It’s time for this matte black with slivers of silver.” Hahaha! Matte black…. Hahahahaaa!!
And there you are fellow polish nerds and/or Alice in Wonderland junkies! Your swatches of the OPI Disney Alice Through the Looking Glass 2016 collection. We should talk about it now. I have thoughts and you have thoughts, let’s grab a cuppa coffee and share how we really feel! Come on – you know you wanna! Before we do that though…

Stick pics! As always, if something from recent release (i.e. the last 4 years of OPI) didn't make the pic, it isn't close enough to consider. In my broken state, it's totally possible I missed something though, so just holler and I'm happy to double check!
OPI Oh My Majesty! Comparison Swatches (above). It appears that I got nuthin’ dupetastic for this shade. I do have other opalescent things but they’re not the same pearly pinky shimmer with the same marshmallowy base. No dupes here – just similars. And BL on a stick means its an OPI Black Label produced and bottled before 2005.
OPI I’m Gown For Anything! Comparison Swatches (above). So close but still not the same. The good news is that if you missed out on Rumple’s Wiggin', this one will do! And code SH CSM = Sally Hansen Complete Salon Manicure.
OPI The I’s Have it Comparison Swatches (above). Huh, I really didn’t think I’d have that many similars…
OPI Fearlessly Alice Comparison Swatches (above). The most interesting thing about these sticks is that most of these shades were released within the last 12 months. Hey! Errryone! Let’s make this blue! And let’s make it over and over because everyone else is doing it!
OPI What’s the Hatter With You? Comparison Swatches (above). I really thought I’d have more for this shot and I really, really thought I’d have more OPI sticks that were similar. Colour me surprised!
OPI Mad for Madness Sake Comparison Swatches (above). And lastly, because you’ve hung in with me for so long today, enjoy all the OPI I have that falls in the Madness Sake category.
OPI Mad for Madness Sake Comparison Swatches (above). Oooh... there's more! So much dupetasticnesssss!!
