#TBT BLOPI LOVE X 2
Lots of you know my big polish love is old, retired shades of OPI that are definitely not 3-free. And they have old school finishes, skinny brushes, and a smell that’ll knock you on your ass. Thanks to Christine at catdoccannon.blogspot.ca and the USPS, I just added a bunch more. I'ma show you two.
opi chapel of love swatches
OPI Chapel of Love – OPI Las Vegas Collection 2003 (above). Three fantastically quick and easy coats. These old formulas are thin, apply beautifully, and dry as fast as the quick-dry polishes of today.
This is OPI Chapel of Love (above). I hope you can see the crazy-fine golden shimmer that's in here – your best shot is the middle finger. Hard to see in The Real Life but it adds a certain depth and shine that blows my tiny mind.
OPI Chapel of Love (above). Oh! You can see the stealth shimmer here in the bottle right by the tip of my index finger! Originally released in early 2003, OPI Chapel of Love is one of 12 shades from the Las Vegas Collection.
My super-duper OPI Spreadsheet tells me I only need 4 more shades to complete the set. My pal Kellie G has one here – it’s OPI Apricotcha Cheating. I want it.
opi not so bora-bora-ing pink swatches
OPI Not So Bora-Bora-ing Pink (above). Golly gee this one is old – 19 years old. And you know what? It’s just perfect. Two coats, with no top coat.
Nobody is making stuff like this these days (Essie’s Retro Revival Collection comes closest) and I don’t know if that’s because the ingredients have been banned or if the ingredients just aren’t available anymore.
OPI Not So Bora-Bora-ing Pink (above). There’s an incredible über-fine pearlescent shimmer in here that really, really floats my goat (ha! I said goat). It dries down beautifully and it’s not super-shiny either. I can barely handle how much I love this shade. Today people might refer to this as a Grandma Shade. Me? I simply refer to it as #LemmingSquished.
If you’re lookin’ for some oldies-but-goodies, Cat said it’s okay if I send you over to have a peek at all the pretties she has available on her updated blog sale. There's a link on that page to her Google doc and she's got way more than just OPI. She’s in the US and ships domestic only – you might need a mule if you’re in Canada.
And lastly, if you've fallen hard for the stuff I just showed you, Amazon.com has a bunch of both OPI Chapel of Love and OPI Not So Bora-Bora-ing Pink. I can’t promise you they’ll be authentic OPI though because (as you may or may not know), to be a guaranteed OPI, you need to purchase from a licensed retailer and Amazon.com is not that.
