For 30 years, L'Occitane en Provence has been working with the women of Burkino Faso, West Africa, where they source their shea butter. As part of that relationship, the French company has created several initiatives that offer consumers a means to share in give-back opportunities, such as the recent, highly successful World Sight Day solidarity soap. And right now, in honour of International Women's Day on March 8th, 100% of the proceeds from the sale of a beautifully packaged Ultra Soft Balm – aka L'Occitane Women's Day Solidarity Balm – is intended for a new program that promotes women's leadership in Burkino Faso.
A rose shea butter balm for lips, hands, body and hair, the L'Occitane Women's Day Solidarity Balm ($6 USd, CAd – £4 in the UK) is housed in a colourful patterned travel-sized tin inspired by ceremonial wax-print fabrics worn by women in Burkino Faso. Through global sales, the company hopes to raise a total of 281 000 € for a new L'Occitane Pour Elles Program designed to encourage and assist Burkino Faso's female entrepreneurs.
The L'Occitane Solidarity Balm is available now while quantities last. Have you already picked one up? It's a lovely just-because BFF gift!
