The great thing about the Internet and e-commerce is that when a company you like does something for a good cause, you can participate until the last minute. Literally. Take the Lush Hand of Friendship Campaign, in which Amnesty International Canada is a partner. Running in the USA and Canada, the Hand of Friendship initiative focuses on raising $450,000 to help resettle the thousands of Syrian refugees seeking safe haven in North America.
“For families that have lost everything, arrival and settlement can be very challenging,” said Alex Neve, Secretary General of Amnesty International Canada says in a press release. “For more than two years, Amnesty International has been pressing the international community to dramatically improve the measures in place for protecting Syrian refugees, including more funding and better programs for refugees in neighbouring countries and more generous commitments to resettle refugees to third countries like Canada. This partnership with Lush allows us to amplify our voice in an effort to change public opinion and welcome refugees into our country.”
Every cent of the proceeds raised through the sale of the cherry-blossom-scented Lush Hand of Friendship Soap ($5.95 CAd at lush.ca and $5.95 USd at lush.com) will go into the Lush Friendship Fund, which the company created to provide resettlement support. Lush plans to consult with experts to decide how to distribute the funds most effectively.
If you'd like to help Lush reach their goal and offer a warm welcome to our Syrian refugees as they try to build new lives here, buy a Lash Hand of Friendship soap or three online by midnight tonight at lush.ca and lush.com.
Who's shopping with me? xoxo
