Is anything better than hits of bright, optimistic colour after you've been bitch-slapped by a massive winter storm? Okay, maybe a sunny tropical beach and a refreshing bevvy, but failing that, at least the Chanel Spring 2016 LA Sunrise collection is pretty to look at, and relief from a whiteout view if you've been on the east coast these last several days. Let's enjoy the view.

I'm having the usual trouble touching a brush to the surface of this lovely Chanel Spring 2016 LA Sunrise Sunkiss Ribbon face palette ($57 CAN at thebay.com and $70 US at nordstrom.com). Adore the ribbon motif. And whoa! It's far less expensive in Canada – unusual, right? US friends, you wanna come get it here! Anyway, I've been carrying it around for days, working up the hutzpah to use it.
The purple in the Chanel Spring 2016 Les 4 Ombres eyeshadow quad in Beverly Hills ($68 CAN at thebay.com and $61 US at nordstrom.com) makes for a nice liner accent against green or hazel eyes. (Mine are hazel.) That teal would look amazing on a young face. Yeah, I said that. I like slightly more subdued shades on more mature features, and I'm including mine in that. Having seen how amazing vibrant shades look on my 14 year old niece, I'm less inclined to wear them myself because on me, they can look garish.
Love this Chanel Spring 2016 Stylo Yeux Waterproof pencils in Pacific Green ($35 CAN at thebay.com and $33 US each at nordstrom.com), but it turns out it's a bit brighter on skin than I expected. More green. I realized after I put it on that I wanted it to be similar to my fave Stila Smudgestick Waterproof Eyeliner in Moray. Pacific Green is a fresher shade – so I muted it with a bronze-gold Charlotte Tilbury crayon on top. *grin*
I've been carrying this limited-edition Chanel LA Sunrise Mascara Le Volume in Ardent Purple ($38 CAN at thebay.com and $32 US at nordstrom.com) around with me for days as well. Le Volume is one of my very favourite mascara formulas, but I need to be in the mood for a colour like this on my lashes. I'ma do it though, to see how it looks with my hazel eyes. I'll be tightlining my inner upper waterline with dark brown or black to anchor the colour, fyi. With my sparse lashes, I need that definition, although one of the reasons I love Le Volume is that it gives me the illusion of excellent lash density and length.
Oh Chanel Spring 2016 LA Sunrise Rouge Coco Shine in Energy ($42 CAN at thebay.com and $37 US at nordstrom.com), you're such a pretty raspberry sheen. And your name... you should be worn on Mondays. And Wednesdays. And days that need sunshine.
Have you already pulled the trigger on pieces from this collection? Maybe the amazing but problematic-for-some Sunrise Trip nail polish? Or are you thinking about it?
