KATY PERRY IS SELLING PERFUME VIA TWITTER – YOU BUYING?
Katy Perry is selling her newest and seventh fragrance Mad Potion via Twitter. A Twitter "pop-up shop" if you will. The entertainer earns the third-biggest paycheck globally and has 72 million followers.
Mad Potion, a sweet vanilla concoction, retails for $29.99 US and is available to her American KatyCats fans via @KatyPerryPopUp. (In Canada the fragrance is available via Shoppers Drug Mart; in late October, Jean Coutu, Perfume Etc. and Walmart will all start carrying it.)
A click on the Buy button brings up the following:
A click on the hotlink code instead takes you to a set-up called Fancy.com, which looks like a site with which you can buy and sell merch.
According to Emily Bond, vp of global marketing, celebrity brands and new business development at Coty Inc., Mad Potion will eventually reach shelves at select retailers; in fact it is available now at Khols.
Aside: Katy does love to play dress up, and she has a definite persona tied to this fragrance campaign. But does she get into costume makeup play maybe too much? What do you think of this makeup? (I love the liner and think it's wearable, but waffle on whether Katy Perry looks like a cartoon and whether that matters at all.)
What do you think? Are you into buying stuff with a Twitter Buy-Now card? (Did this new Twitter e-com feature exist before someone said to Twitter "Katy Perry wants to sell her new fragrance on Twitter; how can we do it?")
