As Janine was posting about frizz the other day, I happened to be writing on the subject as well. Clearly she and I share a brain. We do not, however, share a head of hair, because I require way more help with mine in the summer. Grey always requires more. It needs extra-strength frizz fighting. As for beachy waves, they're an impossible dream when you have truly frizzy hair. Mine can exist in Gisele-like splendour (I may be exaggerating this part) inside a climate-controlled, air-conditioned biosphere, but the minute I step outside, humidity transforms my 'do into a spot-on homage to Sideshow Bob.
My frizz-busting regimen is a super-hydrating shampoo and conditioner – hello John Frieda Frizz Ease Forever Smooth ($13.49 each at well.ca and $9.99 each at ulta.com) made with real coconut oil – followed by a once-over with my Mason Pearson Detangling Comb ($32.50 at delineation.ca and $34 at nordstrom.com), and many, many pumps of my new lover, René Furterer Solaire No Rinse Leave-In Moisturizing Spray ($30, 1-877-441-2011 for Canadian retailers; $22 at renefurturerusa.com).
After air-drying (because even the thought of using a hair dryer in the summer is just gross), I apply a light veil of Kérastase Elixir Ultime Serum Solide ($38 at kerastase.ca and $45 at kerastase-usa.com) over my whole head (because frizz starts at the roots), paying special attention (and adding extra product) from mid-length to the ends. Finger-comb through and voilà: hair that can withstand several hours of humidity without sproinging into a mad halo. That's significantly closer to glorious Gisele than creepy Sideshow Bob. Truly.
Anyone else have any super-genius, super-frizz-smackdown solutions they're willing to share?
