I got your swatches of the 6-shade Essie Neon 2015 Collection! But really, it’s only one neon and five other bright things. Shall we look at ‘em together? I’d like that! Before we start though, I took multiple shots with natural light so prepare for lots of pictures. I tell ya what, these things are hard to capture accurately but from my side of the screen, if I hold the bottles up to my monitor, these are what I’d call bang on.
Essie Neon 2015 Swatches
Essie Vibrant Vibes – Essie Neon Collection 2015 (above). That’s two coats and in my estimation, it’s really the only thing that’s neon in the Essie Neon 2015 collection. It’s bright and I don’t quite know what the finish is but I’m going to call it jelly-matte. It’s not matte, it’s not satin-matte, and it almost looks squishy. Jelly-matte.
Essie Vibrant Vibes – Essie Neons 2015 (above). The formula wasn’t a whole lot of fun for me to use until I figured out that for pretty much all of these shades, you’ll want to do one coat that’s on the thin side and then load your brush and lay a plump second coat over the first. It was the only way for me to get great coverage and level. Watch the sidewalls though – the big blob gets hard to control around the sidewalls. You can do it; I know this because I did it.
Essie Vibrant Vibes w/ Top Coat – Essie Neon 2015 (above). She’s a really great pale lime, huh?
Essie Melody Maker – Essie Neon Collection 2015 (above). Dunno what Essie is putting in this bottle but when the polish dries on the nail, it feels like a soak-off gel polish. There’s something magic in there that gives this shade phenomenal shine in two easy coats. If your first coat is too thin you’ll get patchy results so if you’re a skim-coater by nature, force yourself to put just a little more on your brush than you’re used to for the first coat. Trust.Me.
Essie Melody Maker – Essie Neons 2015 (above). Tilt my fingers this way and the shade looks a little less muddy and a little brighter.
Essie Melody Maker – Essie Neon 2015 (above). And here, a little brighter still. Which is most accurate? They all are. There’s no filters, no colour adjustment, no nuthin’. That’s the shade depending on your eyeballz.
Essie Groove is in the Heart – Essie Neon Collection 2015 (above). Peachy pink! Super-shiny peachy pink! You’re going to open this bottle and think you can OCW! (one coat wonder) it. You can’t. I tried. The formula is beautiful though and in two average coats, it applies like a dream and turns out like what you see up there.
Essie Groove is in the Heart – Essie Neons 2015 (above). A little shift in light and it looks a little more pastel.
Essie Groove is in the Heart – Essie Neon 2015 (above). Change the angle a bit more and I end up with a straight up baby pink with almost no peach in sight. Cool.
Essie Groove is in the Heart mattified – Essie Neons 2015 (above). You know why I did this right? Yep, simply because I can.
Essie Coacha’bella – Essie Neon Collection 2015 (above). You’re looking at this and thinking it’s a jelly-matte version of Flowerista. Ha! I just read your mind! But really, this is much brighter and much more fuchsia – hang tight and I’ll show you in a thing near the end of this post.
Essie Coacha’bella – Essie Neons 2015 (above). Oh yeah! I know what I meant to tell you! Do yourself a favour and let the first coat dry for a couple minutes before you hit it with the second coat, okay? If you don’t, you risk pulling up the first coat on the second (aka balding – so technical, right?). The formula is pretty good though – totally opaque in two coats and while I sort of like the jelly-matte finish…
Essie Coacha’bella w/ Top Coat – Essie Neon 2015 Collection (above). Unnnh. #GimmieThat.
Essie Make Some Noise – Essie Neons 2015 (above). How’s that for a nice peacock blue? Gotta tell you I generally tend towards thin coats but if you try thin with this shade, You.Will.Fail. Put more on your brush than you think you need and you’ll be able to secure this level of perfection with no problem at all.
Essie Make Some Noise – Essie Neon 2015 (above). She’s so pretty. I love her the best. I wish I’d swatched her last so I could wear her to work. Oh! Did I mention amazeballz shiny and feels like gel when it’s dry. Ya. That.
Essie All Access Pass – Essie Neons 2015 (above). Hahahaaa!! This shade almost made me break my computer and hurl my Nikon D7000, my Canon G10, and my iPhone all out the window! It was an absolute nightmare to capture. Cameras are not built for this shade of blurpley-grape. This shot right here is 1 in a million. I deserve a medal for this. Seriously.
Essie All Access Pass – Essie Neon 2015 Collection (above). Know what else I deserve a medal for? Getting this shade on so nice and tidy-like. Here’s what I wrote in my notebook: “3 coats. 2 for lines and last blobtastic to get full opacity, cover streaks and help achieve level. Not fun. No.” But hey, you’re not me – maybe this shade will be a walk in the park for you. I had to use it twice over two days just to get you an accurate shade representation. Would I use it again just because I like the colour? Yeah – I totally would. It’s a pain in the butt but once it’s on there perfectly, it’s really a stupendous shade. If I saw you wearing it, I’d tap you on the shoulder and say “excuse me, do you happen to know what that nail polish you’re wearin’ is called? I neeeeed it”.
Essie All Access Pass – Essie Neon 2015 (above). Exact match. Yes. Beautiful.
And now I must away to work but before I go I made you a little sumthin’ sumthin’!
