Hallo errrrybody! It’s OPI Venice 2015 time! I made you some pretty OPI Venice 2015 swatches and then I've whipped out some of my sticks and made you a whack of comparison swatches too. Shall we go to Venice now?
There’s something very odd about this collection. One half of it is surprisingly spring-tastical and the other half is markedly fall/winter. It’s like OPI Venice has a complex - it runs hot 'n cold, yo!
OPI Venice 2015 Swatches
OPI Be There In A Prosecco – OPI Venice Collection 2015 (above). Curiously enough, I like this shade. It changes depending on the way the light hits it. Here, it’s a creamy beige sorta neutral that’s easily opaque in two coats and pops Crustacean Hands on me.
OPI Be There in a Prosecco – OPI Venice Collection 2015 (above). But here, it’s more of an almost pink ivory crème and there's no real sign of a lobster. Either way, it’s a lovely and simple shade that doesn’t holler either fall or winter at me. What does it say to you? Maybe early spring? Hmm?
OPI A Great Opera-tunity – OPI Venice Collection 2015 (above). Hmm. Melon. Yeah, nothing says fall/winter like a muted melon, right? Okay, I’ll concede. This could be a fall shade. Winter? Uh.. maybe? It’s a lovely boring shade regardless, right? And so easy to slap on! Two easy coats to what you see up there.
OPI Tiramisu for Two – OPI Venice Collection 2015 (above). Oh! Another neutral crème! How exciting! Not. This one is all kinds of pale-pinky coffee cream and while it’s very sophisticated and simple on the nail, getting in on there lookin’ that good was a struggle. It’s thick. I don’t have time to fight with polish and when I have to fight with polish, I get agitated. When I get agitated, I eat Crunchy Cheetos. I don’t have any Crunchy Cheetos. Grrrrr.
OPI Purple Palazzo Pants – OPI Venice Collection 2015 (above). Gah! Lovetasticalz! Two coats, one fantastic formula, and an absolutely smashing shade of lilac. I love her. I’m keeping her forever. She’s a star. A spring star. Or maybe a -40ºC winter star? No. I think not. Okay, maybe I can sport this pair of Palazzo Pants with my warm and toasty navy blue cashmere turtleneck sweater… Maybe. (Ha! See what I did there? If you’re a real polish junkie, you do!)
OPI Gelato On My Mind – OPI Venice Collection 2015 (above). Okay. I don’t care what season this is for because I quite adore it – even though I’m pretty sure I’ve just seen this pale minty blue in the Essie Spring 2015 collection. That’s right, friends, it’s Blossom Dandy. The formula on the OPI is equally as good (2 coats, yo) so if you don’t get a chance to pick up the Essie this spring, you can pick Gelato on my Mind up this August.
OPI I Cannoli Wear OPI – OPI Venice Collection 2015 (above). Here’s a fun fact! Oftentimes when I’m playing OPI, I holler out the names and make Nick guess what collection they’re from. Today I hollered “I Cannoli Wear OPI!” He hollered back “The Pasta Collection!” He’s the best. But a cannoli isn’t pasta, it’s a dessert. And what else can I tell you about this shade? I dig it. Yep, I do. In my 100’s of OPI swatch sticks, I have absolutely nothing that compares. Nothing. In fact, the only thing I have that’s close is a Formula X shade but we’ll get to that later, k? Oh - two coats to even, opaque coverage - that's swell!
OPI Worth a Pretty Penne – OPI Venice Collection 2015 (above). Oooh! A slightly rose-tinted silvery-copper confection! Somewhat streaky, you can probably get away with one generous coat but I did two just to be sure. It’s not so great with my skin tone but that’s okay because at least we’re finally getting closer to the fall/winter wheelhouse.
OPI It’s a Piazza Cake – OPI Venice Collection 2015 (above). This.Is.Fall. You know what else this is? Classic OPI. And you know what? That’s why I love this deep, flat shade of persimmon. It goes on all kinds of splendidly in two coats and while I admit this shade probably isn’t for most people, it’s for me. Definitely.
OPI Gimme A Lido Kiss – OPI Venice Collection 2015 (above). Unh. OPI does red so good. This one is kinda special because of those micro flecky things that are stuffed in there (yeah, I just went all kinds of technical-nail-nerd on you!). If you look around the Q on the bottle, you’ll see them. On the nail, they’re very nearly invisible but look how bright it makes this two-coat red! Oh! Know what else is good about this red? The Stain Factor. So good! You’ll have red-stained cuticles and sidewalls for days if you’re not uber-careful taking it off. My nails weren’t stained at all, just the surrounding area. Ooops.
OPI Amore at the Grand Canal – OPI Venice Collection 2015 (above). I mentioned OPI and red go together real good, right? Yeah, they do. How’s this for a perfect fall/winter red? Lotsa blue in there to cool it down and really, if you haven’t got a classic blue-toned OPI red, this one will do just perfectly. Two coats and no dumb staining when I took it off. Score!
OPI O Suzi Mio – OPI Venice Collection 2015 (above). Blackened purple! Or bold eggplant! Hallo fall! Hallo winter! Shall we talk formula? Nah, we don’t have to – it’s good. Even great. The first coat makes you think jelly. The second pretty much banishes those thoughts and you end up with this shiny deep purple. You like it, I can tell.
OPI My Gondola or Yours? – OPI Venice Collection 2015 (above). When I hollered “My Gondola or Yours?” at Nick, he hollered back “Yours! Mine is in the shop.” Man, I love that dude. But we should talk about the colour, right? It’s an awesomely smoky almost-black. So close to being black that we can pretty much call it black. It’s fully opaque in two mind-blowingly easy coats. Do I love it? Nah, I gotta black that’s opaque in one.
Here's something interesting about OPI Venice: these 12 shades are going right into the core collection. I don't recollect that ever happening with an entire collection before. And more interesting? Three limited edition shades accompany these 12. Did I get 'em? Yep! I've put them here in this post of OPI Venice Limited Edition Shade Swatcthes & Comparisons. (I got them much later, hence the different post.)
OPI Venice the Party, OPI Baroque... But Still Shopping, OPI St. Marks the Spot - limited edition OPI Venice 2015 shades (above).
And now that we’ve covered all them swatches, how about we see what kinds of matchy-matchy I’ve got in my stick collection? C'mon! You know you wanna!

That’s it. That’s all. You know your comments are always welcome, right? I’d love to know what your favourite shade from the OPI Venice Collection is, which ones you’re thinking you might need to get, and which ones you can 1million% live without. Your thoughts on this fall/winter collection (that looks like spring/fall to me) are also welcome! Let’s discuss!
The OPI Venice fall/winter 2015 Collection will be available August 2015 from your usual select retailers. That means Ulta.com will have it and my Canadian fave Trade Secrets will also have it – in August. Right now there are other fun OPI things available – you know, stuff like OPI Hawaii, OPI Soft Shades 2015, OPI Brights 2015, and of course, the OPI Infinite Shine line too. If you're lookin' for other OPI things, you can head on over to OPI.com.
