I get a bit kvetchy about scented body products, especially when they're cloyingly sweet or dessert-themed. My nose just can't handle really sweet fragrance, unless it's real dessert I'm about to eat. (True story: I enjoyed a strawberry-vanilla yogurt and set the empty container to one side on my desk as I worked. About 20 minutes later, a sickly sweet vanilla dessert scent started to make me feel ill. Took me another 20 minutes to realize it was the empty yogurt container. Seems my body knew I'd finished eating and switched to the "I'm offended" mode.) And since more and more body stuff these days seems to be about fake cupcakes, I gravitate a bit toward fragrance-free or unscented formulas.
Clarification alert 1: these mostly-natural formulas are not entirely without scent. The label is pretty specific -- they're "perfume-free." That means no extra fragrance has been added to the mix to enhance or mask their natural scent, which comes from apricot, rosewood, orange peel, vanilla and grapefruit peel extracts.
Clarification alert 2: natural fragrance can irritate sensitive skin just as synthetic perfumes can. But the natural Live Clean Baby Perfume Free shampoo/body wash and body lotion scent is very mild, very low key. So my nose lets me use the wonderfully skin-comforting body lotion without flinching or saying bad words 20 minutes after application.
As for the Live Clean Baby Perfume Free Tearless Shampoo & Wash, friend with baby, I'll give you that one. It's nice, but I actually love punchy fragrance in my shower gel, as long as it's zesty, just-peeled-an-orange (or grapefruit or lemon or lime or a combo) citrus.
Has anyone tried these Live Clean Baby Perfume Free formulas? What did you think?
