Hard Candy nail polish is celebrating a big, fat milestone. We’re talking 20 years of trend-setting shades. There are nine shades in the Spring 2015 collection and there are a couple bottles in here I fell head-over-heels in love with. C’mon – I’ll show you!
Hard Candy Nail Swatches Spring 2015
First off, let’s enjoy this Hard Candy swatch wheel (above) that I made you so you can have a look at the glitter coats without undies. Kind of fun lookin’, right? And now, zeeee swatches, ya?
Hard Candy Fairy Godmother (above). That’s two coats with a smashingly shiny finish. I love the frosty lilacy-steely-grey – it’s just too bad about the streaks. Oh! What if I slap one of those top coats over it!
Hard Candy Girl Crush over Fairy Godmother (above). A glitter coat over Fairy Godmother obscures the streaks rather well, doesn’t it? Yeah, you could rock this.
Hard Candy A Mermaid’s Tale (above). Gah! I love this aquamarine blue! Lightly streaky even with a quick and practiced application but in this shade, it’s totally tolerable for me because it’s like sunlight bouncing off the sea and I dig it.
Hard Candy Lace Me Up over A Mermaid’s Tale (above). You could glitterize your Mermaid if you wanted to but I wouldn’t use this shade of glitter – mostly because I can’t stand those massive hex bits like the one that popped out on my middle nail. Stupid giant inflexible hex glitter… mumble mumble.. doesn’t lay flat… mumble grumble… But, if you’re not me and maybe have less of a curve on your nails than I do, you could probably sport this combo way better than I can.
Hard Candy Bronze Champion (above). Ok. Yes. An odd shade for spring when really it conjures up autumn leaves and holiday parties but holy toledo I think this one is great! It’s fleck-tastic! Lookit all the little bits of brightness in there!
Hard Candy Bronze Champion (above). Let’s bounce a little less light off it and see if it reads better… Yes, there’s copper, gold, yellow gold, and it’s all stuffed in there at maximum density. That’s two coats for amazeballz coverage (except where I went too fast and did a little balding action on my index - you didn't even see it until I pointed it out, right?)
Hard Candy Emerald Cut (above). Yes, another odd choice for spring (because to me, this is a little more fall/winter) but again, I don’t care because this is another one of those deeply fascinating shades. There’s a certain depth of colour Hard Candy has managed to achieve in two simple coats. These pigments, this level of saturation and this level of lit-from-within brightness astounds me. I’m mesmerized by this shade. Seriously.
Hard Candy Emerald Cut (above). See what I’m talkin’ about? Huh? Complicated and marvelous. #GimmieThat.
Hard Candy Mr. Winston over Emerald Cut (above). In keeping with my Christmas theme… No, I have no idea what I was thinking there. Sorry.
Hard Candy Wild Child (above). And now for my biggest love of all the Hard Candy spring 2015 shades. Take a moment to cast your eye over the nails and then the bottle. What do you see? Slightly frosted, flecky, shiftyness. I don’t really have words. I just have grabby hands.
Hard Candy Wild Child (above). So awesomesauce. I’m keeping this bottle - forever.
Hard Candy Flower Bomb over Wild Child (above). It seems a shame to cover Wild Child with glitter but really, this combo is girly and terribly cute. Apart from that dumb giant hex glitter, I think I like this glitterbomb the best. The payoff in one coat is perfect.
And there you have it, fellow polish junkies! The Hard Candy nail lineup for spring 2015. Anything there speak to you like it spoke to me? If yes, in Canada you can get the stuff exclusively at Walmart and Walmart.ca for $3.98 a bottle. Worth it? You bet. For a whack more info on all things Hard Candy, head on over to HardCandy.com. Oh! And did you know they're making eyeglass frames too?
Happy Hard Candy shopping, errrrybody!
