NICOLE BY OPI COCA COLA COLLECTION SWATCHES & COMPARISONS
Nicole by OPI Coca Cola is available for sale as of right now. Remember a couple of weeks ago when I showed you photos of the NOPI collection that my friend Lisa took for me? Well now I have bottles so I've made you swatches and comparison swatches too! Shall we have a look?
Nicole by OPI Coca Cola Swatches
Above: The Look is Orange. My, what an average orange. It took me three coats to erase all visible nail lines and that’s because the stuff is surprisingly thin. It’ll want to migrate and flood your cuticles so be sure you don’t overload your brush or you’ll be taking it off and doing it again – just like I did.
Above: In Grape Demand. This plummy shade is pretty much everywhere this spring and I’m not complaining. I love shades like these with solid pigments and great coverage in two easy coats.
Above: Seriously Citrus over In Grape Demand. Oh! Hello Sprite top coat! I admit to having had a swatch tray of this collection for months and during that time, I’ve been hoping Seriously Citrus would be exactly this. That’s one coat over In Grape Demand and the glitter payoff is perfect for me. I kinda dig it and mostly, I don’t dig glitter.
Above: DC Lover over Sally Hansen Sterling Silver. What you see when you look at the bottle is not what comes out on the nail unless you’re willing to do maybe 4 or 5 coats of the stuff to get the right opacity. How do I know this? Well that’s because this DC Lover is pretty much the same as OPI Shine For Me from the Fifty Shades collection. Shine For Me had blue glitter bits and this one has red. Armed with that knowledge and hoping for a quick way to duplicate what the shade looks like in the bottle, I slapped on a single coat of silver chrome followed by two coats of DC Lover. Success! Friend Susan at The Silver Nail has a straight up, no undies shot for you if you need to see NOPI DC Lover going commando.
Above: Seriously Citrus over Sally Hansen Sterling Silver. And while I have my bottle of Sally H Color Foil out… That’s two coats of the NOPI because the glitter didn’t seem to want to stick to the chrome finish but check it out! I totally made a Sprite Can! I showed this to Nick, said “think soda pop” and he said “Sprite!” He’s a good man.
Above: Seriously Citrus over OPI Good Grief. Why? Because sometimes I do odd things.
Above: Zero is My Hero. Gah! LOVE! I really don’t know what it is about shades like this that get me every single time. OPI is so incredibly good at making them. That glimmer that sits right there and gives such incredible depth of colour just makes me swoon. That’s two simple coats and I’m never giving this bottle up. Ever. (Yes, even though I might have 5 or 8 more that are awfully similar but we’ll get to that soon – I promise).
Above: Zero is My Hero. See? Different lighting and still wickedly stunning.
Above: Always a Classic Coca-Cola. Holy awesomely awesome red! This is the kind of red that screams OPI. It’s that same glimmer shimmer metallic-ness that’s in Zero is My Hero and to me, it’s quintessential OPI. That it’s available in a NOPI bottle is kind of a bummer on account of the dumb bottle shape but this red… I think it might be perfect.
Above: Seriously Citrus over Revlon Black Magic. Because I know you were waiting expectantly for me to whip out my Black Magic, I didn’t want to disappoint you. Two coats of the glitter over one coat of the black. Do it because you can. Or…
Above: Seriously Citrus over Revlon Black Magic – Mattified. Do this! Winner! Gagnant!
So there are your individual swatches, fellow polish junkies! Shall we see if there’s anything in The Archives we can make matchy-match with?
