OPI SOFT SHADES 2015 COLLECTION SWATCHES & REVIEW
I don’t have any idea how long OPI has been pumping out OPI Soft Shades collections but I do know that I don’t have many of 'em in The Archives. Why? They just ain’t bright enough for this girl. That said, these ones sure are pretty!
opi soft shades 2015 swatches
Above: OPI Act Your Beige! That’s two coats to a fluffy transparent creamy beige. What more can I say about it that you can’t see from the photo? Nuthin’.
Above: OPI Chiffon My Mind. Ooh! That’s a pretty little confection isn’t it? That’s two coats and if you get right up on it, you’ll see the little blue ‘n pink pearly micro glitter bits in there. They make it something I’d wear. I tell ya what, that right there is 100% what I'd call an OPI Soft Shade.
Above: Chiffon My Mind. Maybe you can see that blue micro glitter better in that shot? Stupid winter is glitter-pop blockin' me.
Above: OPI Make Light of the Situation over Chiffon My Mind. That’s a single coat of Make Light of the Situation over two of Chiffon My Mind. The bottle shows you better what this thing is made of. There’s sheer blue and sheer rosy-gold confetti bits jammed in there with pearly white bits too.
Above: Make Light of the Situation over Chiffon My Mind again. The finish on this shade isn’t smooth but a quick coat of top coat will take care of that. In bright light it’s sparkly and in bright light, I dig it. Inside? Not so much. On my side of the screen, the difference is huge!
Above: OPI Put It In Neutral. Oh look, a sheer nude in two coats. Yes this is indeed the Soft Shades 2015 collection and a shade like this is to be expected but still… meh.
Above: OPI This Silver’s Mine. Huh. A streak-tastical rose-tinted silver frosty thing. Uh, no thanks. Streaks give me a rash. I know you’re wondering if the streaks mellow with drying – the answer is yes! They mellow all the way to what you see in my photo and if you ask me, that ain’t enough. Nope. Pass. But “wait,” you say. “Is there any way this polish looks good?” Yes, there is…
Above: OPI Make Light of the Situation over This Silver’s Mine. Ta da! The only redeeming quality of This Silver’s Mine comes when you cover it up! One coat of Make Light over top and you get a pretty engagement party mani! I like it! I do!
Above: Make Light of the Situation over This Silver’s Mine again. Tilt it thisaway and that pretty rose tint shows up to the party. No, it’s not something I normally go for, but in this incarnation, I’m a fan.
Above: Make Light of the Situation over Revlon Black Magic. Why? Simply because I can. Yes, there’s a big ole streak down the middle of my index and another on my ring – I shoulda loaded my brush a little more, but, you’re totally gonna learn from my mistake, yes?
Above: OPI Petal Soft. Lotsa people been waiting to see what this shade is all about so to show it to you in the most descriptive way possible, there it is over a single coat of my favourite OCW!!! Revlon Black Magic. Little pink ‘n white confetti bits with white flowers all stuffed into a clear coat. Oh, by the way, fishing for flowers is NOT fun. Nope.
Above: OPI Petal Soft over OPI That’s Hula-rious! That looks pretty. I’m very nearly satisfied with that paint job. Right up until you look at this next shot…
Above: Petal Soft over That’s Hula-rious! again. I invite you to take a look at the edges of those flower confetti bits (feel free to reference Petal Soft over black too). The flowers have not conformed to the curve of my nail. They could have been ½ as thick and maybe that would have encouraged them to flex. Oh, and that’s with another coat of clear coat on top. Kinda disappointing, especially considering the length of time between this release and the Formula X Cherry Blossom which OPI could have learned from.
So which of these shades pleases me enough for me to give up my Crunchy Cheeto Dollahs? Just one – Chiffon My Mind. Why wouldn’t I buy Make Light of the Situation? Well, that’s ‘cause I got this:
And I also got this:
Petal Soft could have been a winner, but I already have it in the Formula X incarnation.
What about you? I know you’ve been waiting for this OPI Soft Shades 2015 Collection because you told me you were. Now that you’ve seen it all, anything there strike your fancy? C'mon, don't be shy. Tell!
OPI Soft Shades will be available sometime in March 2015 from places like Ulta and Ulta.com. Here in Canada, you’ll be able to find them at Trade Secrets and your regular licensed polish retailers. What’s available from OPI right now though? A bunch – there’s OPI Hawaii, OPI Fifty Shades of Grey, and all that new OPI Infinite Shine stuff too! For a buttload of info on all things OPI, visit OPI.com.
