Yep, still on that kick of trying potentially kiss-friendly, long-wear lip shades in case you were looking for something for your Valentine's Day date night. This lovely soft red is great for red-lip devotees. I think it's also a good entry red for someone who isn't quite ready for vibrant, statement colour. The shade is just muted enough to be non-threatening, but with enough life to be youthful, too. (You'll get so many compliments!) This is Chanel Rouge Double Intensité Ultra Wear Lip Color in Strawberry Red.
Chanel Rouge Double Intensité Ultra Wear Lip Colour ($39 at thebay.com and $35 at nordstrom.com) is of course a whole lot like most two-step longwear lip stuff. The colour base is rich and smooth, like that of Make Up For Ever (08 Iconic Red if you love red); same with the gloss top coat. And it's easy to wear, not overly drying. Wait one minute after applying the base, then top it off with the gloss. Take care not to gloss outside the colour lines -- looks weird up close.
Strawberry Red, however, can be a little bit tricky to find. In Canada, Hudson's Bay carries it, but it's not online. Best to call the Chanel counter at the closest Hudson's Bay locations to find out if they have stock (there are two left at Bloor & Yonge, Toronto; four at the Queen St. W store). Online in the US, go straight to chanel.com -- it's $36 there.
Interesting tidbit: a Chanel counter artist once told me that there may be shade differences between Canadian Chanel makeup and Chanel sold in the US. Chanel sold in Canada is made in France; Chanel sold in the USA is made in America. Pigments sometimes vary, that's all.
So, Chanel Rouge Double Intensité Ultra Wear Lip Color in Strawberry Red -- yes? No? Maybe? And I'm just guessing it'll hold up to a good makeout session -- please confirm when you can. *grin*
UPDATE: If you love this shade and Chanel Rouge Double Intensité Ultra Wear Lip Color in general, stock up -- the Canadian price goes up to $42 each on March 1st.
