I am so cheating on fuchsia right now. With this gorgeous, heart-stopping vibrant red, how could I not? This is the Chris Hemsworth of red lipsticks. The Ryan Gosling. The Theo James. The Chris Evans. It's a hot, hot, hot star. And it's a drugstore buy.
I know how great Revlon Ultra HD Lipstick in 875 Gladiolus ($10.99 at well.ca and $9.99 at target.com) looks on Emma Stone. So I thought, hey -- that'll work for a nice Kisses4Canfar Insta-shot. Midway through the first swipe, though, I did a double-take. What the –?
The Revlon Ultra HD Lipstick is a gel-based, no-wax formula that glides on in an instantly beautiful, boldly pigmented sweep. Some lipsticks need some build-up to deliver a clean, bright intensity -- not Revlon Ultra HD. If you're the type who automatically uses a fairly heavy pressure back-and-forth-back-and-forth-back-and-forth to apply lipstick, you'll want to think about changing your technique. Revlon Ultra HD is not your average lipstick, never mind your average drugstore lipstick.
And this colour, Gladiolus, a slightly warm red... I love it so much that today it was my consolation prize after I tried a red lip tint that revealed itself as a muddy, flatters-no-one dull brick (Sephora Rouge Infusion in #10 Red Essence -- avoid.) I removed the offending shade (it offended our Liza Herz, too!) and practically crowed with delight at the excuse to revisit Gladiolus. After all, it's the Chris Hemsworth/Theo James/Chris Evans of red lipsticks.
Do you already have a Revlon Ultra HD lippie or two? Gladiolus, maybe? I know some of you declared it a must-have as soon as photos of Emma Stone at the SAG Awards hit -- and it really, really is exactly that. If you love red or have never worn red before, this Revlon Ultra HD Lipstick is a winner.
