Although "2 Broke Girls" isn't on my watch list, the more I see Kat Dennings in films and television spots, the more I love her. Anyone else catch her at her bitchy best as Blair Lansing on the last season of "The Newsroom"? She was gorgeous, stoic, wonderfully ascerbic, and an excellent on-screen match for the incomparable Jane Fonda as stepmother and ACN-owner Leona Lansing.
Kat was gorgeous at last night's People's Choice Awards, too. She and her "2 Broke Girls" co-star Beth Behrs presented the award for favourite male action star to super-hottie Chris Evans (*impure thoughts* I didn't know how much I appreciated a snug shirt-and-sweater combination on a dude. And when he gave 93-year-old Betty White his strong arm to help her up the stage stairs.... In his acceptance speech, Evans said he doesn't usually win stuff, but oh, he really does. *many, many more impure thoughts*)
Okay, okay, let's talk about Kat Denning's red-carpet makeup now.
"The look we created tonight for Kat is all about modern romance," says Avon Global Celebrity Makeup Artist Lauren Andersen, who worked with Kat for the People's Choice Awards. "It's feminine and sexy and complements the black lace dress she's wearing."
To give Kat's complexion a luminous finish, Lauren applied Chanel Perfection Lumiere Foundation ($58 at thebay.com and $57 at nordstrom.com) and Koh Gen Do Maifanshi Aqua Foundation Illuminator ($47 at sephora.ca and $39 at sephora.com). She dusted cheeks lightly with Chanel Joues Contraste Powder Blush ($48 at thebay.com and $45 at nordstrom.com) in Rose Petale.
Lauren used the Avon True Color Eyeshadow Quad ($10 at avon.ca and $8 at avon.com) in Mocha Latte on Kat's lids and along her lower lashes, then defined her eyes with Avon Mega Effects Liquid Eye Liner ($10 at avon.ca and $8 at avon.com) in Black. She added extra drama with false lashes and two coats of Avon Big & Daring Volume Mascara ($9.99 at avon.ca and $9 at avon.com) in Blackest Black.
On Kat's lips, Lauren used Avon Ultra Color Lipstick ($10 at avon.ca and $8 at avon.com) in Cherry Jubilee. (I love that Kat's lips look stained, as though the lipstick were dabbed on and lightly blotted -- sexier, I think, than fully painted.)
And that's what Lauren Andersen calls modern romantic makeup for Kat Dennings. It's kind of a standard look for Kat, though, isn't it? Not that she hasn't changed up her red-carpet makeup in the past -- see this post on a variety of Kat Dennings looks -- but this red lip + liquid liner is something she does a lot.
