L'Oreal has signed makeup pro Lisa Eldridge as the new makeup creative director for Lancôme. Known for her hugely successful video tutorials, deft application technique and practical advice, Eldridge also has a star-studded client list that includes Kate Winslet (a Lancôme celebrity ambassador), Cate Blanchett, Kate Beckinsale, Kiera Knightley, Sophie Dahl and many, many more. Fun fact: in her early makeup-artist years, Eldridge was a Lancôme beauty advisor at Harrods.
While there's no confirmed date for the launch of Lisa Eldridge's first collection of makeup for Lancôme, word is we can expect something later than Spring, in the latter half of 2015.
This is a smart move for Lancôme, isn't it? Lisa is fresh off a series of videos created in collaboration with Chanel; she's also worked closely with Shiseido and No.7. Designers on her resume include Matthew Williamson, Moschino, Nina Ricci, Alberta Ferretti, Sonia Rykiel and Todd Lynn; advertising clients include Calvin Klein, Giorgio Armani, Hermes, J Crew, Dior, T LeClerc, Maybelline, Rimmel and Stella McCartney.
But really, for us it's all about Lisa's makeup tutorials (I adore the Lisa Eldridge how-to for mature faces in this post), and that. voice. Right? Plus her extensive facial routine on long flights...
What do you think? Lisa Eldridge as a brand herself is a unique mix of prestige + practicality + sisterly encouragement. Does she change the way you see Lancôme at all -- yet? (If so, how did you see Lancôme before this announcement?)
