I am afraid of Black Friday. I know, that may be the weirdest confession ever, but there it is. As it becomes more popular in Canada, I find Black Friday overwhelming, and it's a serious threat to my bank account (and taxi-cab habit). I react to it the same way I react to a lot of things that make me uncomfortable: I go all ostrich and pretend it isn't happening. But I also know that out of all the things to fear in the world, this is so silly (duh), so I'ma face it head-on right now, with this round-up of... wallet whisperers.
We're still awaiting the opening of Nordstrom in downtown Toronto -- seems to be taking forever, sheesh! Nordstrom.com has some great stuff, including a Very Tempting Kiehl's Overnight Hydration Essentials kit ($33 at nordstrom.com), a pretty L'Occitane Mini Hand Cream Delights set ($10 at nordstrom.com) that wants me to own it, and one of my all-time body favourites, Bliss Lemon + Sage Body Butter (30% off!).
The Nordstrom Gift-With-Purchase section is totally tempting, with options from Dr. Dennis Gross, Diptyque, Bobbi Brown and more -- check it out. Another confession: I love the makeup bags Clinique's been doing as part of their GWP offers -- I wanna buy stuff just to get those. (The above Clinique Repair Lift set is $50 at nordstrom.com.)
Canadians, can I just geek out for a minute about the stuff Hudson's Bay has going on? Have you spent any time in their beauty department?
The brilliantly-priced Lord & Taylor palettes and sets (exclusive to HBC), Strivectin collections (want!), adorable Clinique, the Tanda Pearl whitening system (it's amazing -- Tanda Pearl post here), and Butter London -- and that's just their online Black Friday stuff.
Sephora -- oy. The Canadian site has $12 deals and a slightly different lineup from the US Sephora site ($10 deals!). A Caudalie Honey Hand Cream Lip Conditioner Duo is casting its glance my wallet's way, as is a little Too Faced kit that includes a mini mascara (my niece and sister-in-law have been raving about a Too Faced mascara... I have to check which one, but either way this price is great). Am charmed by Ciate's annual Tree Trinkets, too, and giving second and third winks at the Josie Maran Argan Hand Healers because I adore that citrussy hand balm.
You know who isn't afraid of Black Friday? Or Cyber Monday (freaks me out too)? Our awesome friend G at nouveaucheap.com! If you aren't already a fan of hers, go check out her site now so you're set for Monday.
How does Black Friday rate for you? Do you wait with breathless anticipation? Spend the day snagging online deals? Or carry on like it's any other day?
