Holiday-party season is just about to hit, so the Lipstick League is curious: What’s your go-to party makeup look? Smoky eyes? Cat-eye liner? Bright lips?
go-to party makeup: office face to fancy face
I love smoky eyes. I love cat-eye liner. I've worn both. And obviously I adore bright lips. Chances are I might do any of these looks for a holiday party. But I'll say this (again and again) about bold lip colour: it's. so. easy. In one move, a vibrant shade of lipstick takes everyday Office Face to Fancy Face. As far as I'm concerned, you just can't beat fabulous-in-a-flash.
This is Smashbox Cherry Smoke Be Legendary Lipstick in Bing($24 at murale.ca and $21 at nordstrom.com), a cheerful, velvety matte red with a hint of blue. (Swatched it for you, AFA!) It's amazing! Fantastic colour, and great texture. It's a touch drier than regular creamy, glossy lipsticks, yes, but not overly so. I've been wearing it for hours since snapping these shots and my lips are quite comfortable. (Hydrating serum + lip balm earlier today probably helped as prep, actually.) If you're looking for a killer matte red, Bing from the Smashbox Cherry Smoke collection is definitely one to consider. And it's limited-edition -- get it quick if it's calling to you.
Now let's see what the rest of the Lipstick League's been up to this week.
