Lipstick League: Are You a Face Primer Fan? What are Your Favourites?
This week's beauty query from the Lipstick League is about primer. Do you use face primer? If yes, what are your favourites? I'd especially like to hear about silicone-free options. I've met a few over the years; have you tried any you can't do without?
face primer: now's the time
I almost never wear face primer, but if there's a time to do so, it's holiday-party season. When we have after-5pm events to attend, face primer can minimize the repairs we might have to make to the foundation we've been wearing all day, right?
I'm not a fan of silicone-y primers (similar to the crop of "blur" products out on the market now). I prefer lotion-style formulas that feel lighter on the skin. One that I like is Smashbox Photofinish Hydrating Primer ($50 at sephora.ca and $42 at sephora.com) -- anything that hydrates is a friend to my skin (and probably yours too). Just after it launched, Smashbox pro artist Lori Taylor told me she wore it as part of her skincare routine.
Smashbox makes the first primer I really liked, actually; the most recent launch is Smashbox Photofinish Oil Free Pore Minimizing Primer ($50 at sephora.ca and $39 at sephora.com), which promises to mattify and defy humidity for eight hours. Has anyone tried it?
