Dame Helen Mirren, 69, has joined the lineup of celebrity beauties representing L'Oreal Paris. The actress is reportedly the new spokesface for L'Oreal Paris Age Perfect, their line of skincare for mature skin. It's her first cosmetics contract.

Helen Mirren is pretty much the defacto poster-star for magazine stories about aging gracefully. She's had work done, sure -- a subtle lift here, a tiny tuck there -- but she hasn't erased every wrinkle or relied heavily on fillers to eradicate the years that look so good on her face (good brows here, by the way, Helen!). She's wonderfully sexy (loved her in Red and Red 2) and says things like "I am not gorgeous and I never was, but I was always OK looking and I'm keen to stay that way," according to The Daily Mail.
L'Oreal Paris also has Jane Fonda, 76, Diane Keaton, 68, and Andie McDowell, 56, on their roster of beautiful, older celebrity faces, as well as Julianne Moore, 53. "I have always loved the L'Oreal Paris brand, and I hope I can inspire other women towards greater confidence by making the most of their natural good looks," says Helen Mirren in The Daily Mail. We are all worth it!"
Here, let's enjoy a few Helen clips from Red 2:
What a great role for any woman, especially for a woman with some life experience in her rear-view mirror. Frankly, there's no way I'm alone in having a bit of a girl-crush on Helen.
And what a relief that Helen's L'Oreal Paris photos haven't been so insanely retouched to banish every wrinkle (we're going to get into that retouching issue in another post). Update: it seems Helen is a L'Oreal Paris UK amabassador rather than global. *moue*
What do you think? Is it cool Helen Mirren has scored her first cosmetics contract at age 69? Or is she just another famous face enlisted to sell an impossible-to-achieve beauty ideal?
