Benefit Majorette Booster Blush

Hello, Sunshine. Meet Benefit Majorette, a super-cute new cream-to-powder blush that calls itself a "booster blush." Say what?

A truly excellent launch makes us look at a standard staple product as though it's the first ever of its kind. The most recent example is YSL Baby Doll Kiss & Blush, which, with terrific packaging, amazing shades, appealing formula and modern satin-matte finish, made us think lip-and-cheek colour is the greatest new idea ever. And of course, a new idea it is not.

Seems Benefit Majorette booster blush kinda hopes to do that for cheek colour. Again. Will it? Well... (Remember, Benetint was a the game-changer in the lip-and-cheek-colour arena when it launched the brand in 1976.)

Benefit Majorette and tip sheet

From its girly, marching-band-inspired compact (that looks like it should house a tasty peach macaron) to the stylized sunburst imprinted on a dome of sunny colour, Benefit Majorette is undeniably eye-catching. And it has a fairly subtle fruity scent described as peach and pomegranate. But really, it's just a nice, smooth, cream-to-powder blush in a universally flattering shade of sheer warm peachy-pink.

So how is it a booster blush exactly? On most complexions, a warm peachy-pink shade like this will give cheeks a lovely, natural-looking flush, an enlivening, healthy glow. Calling it a "booster" that enhances your own colour is merely Benefit's spin. After all, blush is about boosting colour and enhancing the complexion.

Do you need Benefit Majorette? A mousse blush in a similar shade will give you a similar finish. Try: Maybelline Dream Bouncy Blush in Peach Satin ($10.09 at, or Joe Fresh Mousse Blush in Peach ($6, for locations). However, Benefit Majorette ($36, September) is an adorable gift for any girl with a geek-on for blush. And I can't deny that I kinda dig having it and using it myself. Can't use Benefit Majorette and stay in a bad mood. That counts for something. Maybe "booster" for mood-booster.
