Recently re-formulated Maybelline Color Show has brand new stuff rolling out all over the place as of June 2014. S’the Maybelline Color Show Textured Top Coats in new finishes -- Jewels and Veils -- and you know they sent some over so I could show ’em to you.
My nail pal Lisa in America sent me some nail mail and in it were some really fun things I’d never played with before. What did I do? I played Color Show Textured Top Coats over some of it!

Funky Fingers BPM We don’t have this polish here in Canada. Nope, we don’t. It’s Funky Fingers, it’s 3 for $5, and it’s made by Color Club. What? 3 for $5? I want all.
Maybelline Color Show Mosaic Prism Jewels one coat over my Funky Fingers BPM. Oooh! Purdy rainbow sparkles in many different sizes!
Zoya Caitlin We also don’t have easy access to Zoya here in Toronto. It’s so sad. I’d feature it but I can’t get it without ordering online. I don’t love ordering online - I like to get eyes on the shade instead of relying on color-corrected or studio-shot images.
Maybelline Color Show Platinum Adorn Jewels over Zoya Caitlin I know, I made winter in June. I don’t care though because I really dig it! This beautiful shade of dusty lavender-grey goes so spectacularly well with this one coat of silver accents. Subtle and sparkly at the same time.
Funky Fingers Let The Beat Drop S’a squishy jelly sorta matt-ish finish that took 3 coats to achieve. Also, there’s a pretty little iridescent shimmer in there! 3 for $5? My mind is boggled.
Maybelline Color Show Amethyst Aura veils over Funky Fingers Let The Beat Drop More blue shimmery sparkles over top of an already iridescent blue? Okay! This combination makes me smile – it’s very fun. I enjoy very fun.
And then there’s this. It’s the Maybelline Color Show Crystal Disguise Veils and I put it over one of my all-time favourite shades of Essie – that’s Essie Sure Shot. I love the Sure Shot – it makes me think Beastie Boys AND it’s one of those shades I always always gravitate towards.
Them hot fuchsias are SO my Gimmie That thing. I’ve shown it to you here naked, then with one coat of Crystal Disguise, then with a second coat of Crystal Disguise. It’s good, right? Maybe even great!
Butter London Branwen’s Feather Here’s another shade Lisa sent me – I don’t know if she is aware of how much love I have for Butter London polishes or if she can simply read my polish mind. When I think edgy ground-breaking shades, I include Butter London – always. Alas, they’re also not that easy for me to get hands on but I’m very, very pleased to add this stunning shimmery eggplant to my hoard.
Maybelline Color Show Crystal Disguise Veils over Butter London Branwen’s Feather Gah!! Too much awesome!! That’s just one coat of the stuff over top. I can’t stand how stunning this transformation is. iSwoon.
So that’s it – that’s all I’ve got for you today. There are a bunch more Maybelline Color Show textured top coats in Jewels ($4.49 each at drugstores etc) and Veils ($4.49 each at drugstores etc) out there but samples are hard to get hands on, so I got nuthin’ else to show you. In a few days, you might be able to find more information on Maybelline.com. Right now, our friend G at Nouveau Cheap has an image of the Jewels collection that one of her readers spotted. You gonna get some?
