We've seen lip + cheek colors or lip/cheek balms before, and liquid lipstick, too. But with a range of gorgeous, youthful shades, a soft, mousse-y matte formula, and creative presentation, YSL has found a way to make the concepts seem new and even more covetable.
ysl baby doll kiss and blush: sweet cheeks
Yep, fuchsia and orange are still a hot combo. How can you look at this promo image from the YSL Baby Doll Kiss & Blush campaign and not want both shades? No judgment if you already own colours like these from other brands. #sistersolidarity
Part of the charm of YSL Baby Doll Kiss & Blush collection is this sleek packaging. It suggests nail polish as it shows off a delicious range of shades that make a sweet tooth crave a macaron or five. Then there's the formula, a velvety creamy mousse positioned as liquid lip color that won't dry out the lips or make cheeks feel sticky. As for the name, "Baby Doll" -- or YSL Babydoll, which I keep typing by mistake -- will surely make the under-30 set squee, and the 4o+ crowd eye it as a young-at-heart hallmark.

I love YSL Baby Doll Rose Frivole (Nº 2) as a full-coverage lip cream, which requires a couple of minutes of careful application to achieve. A quick swipe yields a slapdash sheer finish that I don't love with my skintone. (A light, dabbed-on application would work better for me with Nº 1 Fuchsia Desinvolte.) And look! It's my new favourite yellow-pink colour, the one I mentioned here, and showed you here, and showed you here, too.
On cheeks, YSL Baby Doll Rose Frivole is Spring-fresh, gorgeous on skintones from pale to medium-dark. (I haven't photographed the colour on my cheeks, but you can get a sense of how the formula looks on the face via the video a few spots below.)
YSL Baby Doll Kiss & Blush Rose Epicurien (Nº 9) is a bit more of a challenge for me -- I don't really do pastel-esque lips. (I feel like I need more eye makeup to balance, which takes more time.)
But it's pretty, and on cheeks it's lovely.
The YSL Beauty website features this video to demonstrate how one shade looks dabbed lightly on lips, applied more intensely, and blended on cheeks.
