Linda Rodin is tickled at having become a poster child for aging beautifully. The 65-year-old has enjoyed a long, successful career in fashion, most notably as a stylist. She spent a year at Harper's Bazaar as a fashion editor in the 1980s before transitioning into freelance styling and working with familiar names such as Madonna, Halle Berry, Laetitia Casta, Gisele Bundchen and Adriana Lima.
A long-time fan of natural and essential oils, Linda perfected a personal face elixir that became Rodin Olio Lusso ($125 at Holt Renfrew) in 2007 and launched her into the beauty sphere (the lip balm appears in this post and this one, too). The luxurious blend quickly won a cult following of models, makeup artist and celebrities (Gwyenth Paltrow sent her flowers in thanks for a bottle).
In 2012, J. Crew put Linda in front of the camera for its Fall catalogue (above) and sparked a new chapter in the modelling career she'd flirted with in the 1960s. Widely acknowledged as a style icon -- another label that amuses her as much as it delights her -- Linda has found herself in ad campaigns for Karen Walker Eyewear and The Row by Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, featured on The Coveteur, and photographed for the upcoming May issue of Fashion Magazine (wait 'til you see the photos).
We'll have much more on Linda Rodin soon -- we at Beautygeeks are unabashed fangirls of her approach to style, beauty, and aging without chasing youth (she uses only Olio Lusso on her skin and eschews foundation, concealer, eye shadow and blush). In the meantime, enjoy this dreamy video profile of Linda, produced by Samantha Levin.
