Wouldn't makeup inspired by mystical forces be fun for an ordinary day? It was fun for last night's Line Knitwear runway show at World Mastercard Fashion Week in David Pecaut Square in Toronto. Flawless skin, black winged liner, flashes of silver and a cherry-stained lip, as seen here on model Dajana, beautifully complemented the unexpectedly colourful Fall 2014 Line collection.
silver and black liner: mystical makeup, ordinary day
"I told my team to make the skin sing," said lead artist and Maybelline pro Grace Lee. In backstage-beauty speak, when young models with collagen-plump skin are involved, that means "use a primer or pore minimizer as well as foundation." The artists did exactly that, starting with Maybelline NY Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser ($11.99 at well.ca) -- it's very much like L'Oreal Paris Miracle Blur -- followed by Maybelline NY Dream Fresh BB Cream ($1o.99 at well.ca).
The pretty eye makeup started with an extended cat-eye in black to give the makeup "some edge." Maybelline NY Color Tattoo in Silver Strike ($8.99 at well.ca) ran along the lower lashlines and across the top of the cat-eye liner. A silver swipe outward from the inner corners of the lids, just above the crease, added an otherworldly finish. Maybelline NY Volum'Express Pumped Up Colossal Mascara (coming in April) defined, fattened and lengthened the lashes. Maybelline Great Lash Clear Mascara ($7.59 at well.ca) brushed upward through brows gave them shape.
Rather than contour the cheeks, Grace and the team of makeup artists made skin gleam with a blend of Maybelline NY Baby Lips Lip Balm in Quenched and Maybelline NY Color Tattoo in Barely Branded along the tops of the cheekbones, on the bridge of the nose and a tiny bit on the chin.
Grace completed the look with Maybelline NY Faint for Fuchsia Color Whisper sheer lipstick ($9.49 at well.ca) all over lips, with Maybelline NY Vivid Rose Vivid lipstick ($9.99 at well.ca) in the centre of the mouth, "almost as though she's been sucking on a bright pink popsicle."
What do you think? Let's all do this next Wednesday, just because.
