Essie spring 2014 is already on-counter in the States but if you’re here in Canada, it’s just about to roll out. The Hide & Go Chic collection is a beauty. There are some familiar shades and a couple anti-winter shades that made me smile.
essie spring 2014 is in the air stores
Essie Spring 2014: Essie Romper Room.
Essie Spring 2014: Essie Romper Room. It’s not a ground-breaking pink but it’s a sweet spring pastel that goes on in two good coats.
Essie Spring 2014: Essie Spin the Bottle.
Essie Spring 2014: Essie Spin the Bottle. Nudes – they’re everywhere! If you don’t have a neutral nude, this might be for you. That’s two good coats.
Essie Spring 2014: Essie Fashion Playground.
Essie Spring 2014: Essie Fashion Playground. I’m in love with this springy pastel shade of mint green. It’s one of those colours I gravitate towards without fail.
Essie Spring 2014: Essie Fashion Playground. I love it straight up out of the bottle and I also really, really adore it with a side of matte. My brother doesn’t get matte top coats, he says it ruins the shiny. He’s clearly a dude. I mean, lookit that!
Essie Spring 2014: Essie Truth or Flare.
Essie Spring 2014: Essie Truth or Flare. Oh. I like this shade. It’s a dusty grey-blue that needed three thin coats to get what you see here.
Essie Spring 2014: Essie Hide & Go Chic.
Essie Spring 2014: Essie Hide & Go Chic. The namesake of the collection is a creamy-ish solid azure blue. It goes on in two coats and believe it or not, I don’t have a single dupe in my vast collection of polish for Essie Hide & Go Chic. I checked. You?
Essie Spring 2014: Essie Style Hunter.
Essie Spring 2014: Essie Style Hunter. This red is not every other red. This red is a crème red with what looks to me like a shot of hot pink. That shot of hot pink makes this it almost border on raspberry. Essie calls it “crimson”. I’m going to call it Gimmie That.
The Hide & Go Chic collection is kind of interesting, right? Somehow the combination of brights and pastels goes together just well enough to make me need the whole shebang. Some of it screams “Spring!” and some of it screams “Not Winter!” but it’s all stuffed with good formulas that self-level well and give shiny, opaque coverage with a couple coats.
The Essie Spring 2014 Hide & Go Chic collection ($11.99/bottle) is currently available in the US and on Utla.com. It should hit Canadian stores shortly. If you desperately need to fill your Essie void, you might want to have a look at the Essie Resort 2014 collection (we have it swatched all pretty for you right here), which you can get pretty much everywhere as of now -- or at least at Trade Secrets.
