Golden Eyes: You Can SO Do a Version of This Dior Gilded Eye Makeup Tonight
I've been meaning to gush about this stunning makeup from the Christian Dior Spring 2014 ready-to-wear show -- and it happens now, probably while you're just jumping out of the shower pre-New Year's Eve shindig. Oops. So let's get to the real-life show-how quickly:
Makeup artist and photographer Dallas Curow translated this Dior Spring 2014 ready-to-wear runway look into a five-step real-life version for fashionmagazine.com. Go now via the above link or click on the photo. We can talk later about how Dallas's interpretation isn't just for parties.
I wish we were all adventurous enough and model-faced enough to wear this in real life just because it's Tuesday. For the Dior Spring 2014 ready-to-wear show, makeup artist Pat McGrath had her team use glue, gold pigment and gold glitter to make the brows jewel-like. They used gold pigment on the eyes, with a fine swipe of pastel liner at the lash line. Note the brown-mascara thing; black lashes would distract from the gilded effect.
Although the real-life version of this Christian Dior Spring 2014 ready-to-wear look isn't so painterly, you'll still want to use eye primer to make sure your shadow stays put past midnight. You may also want to apply your shadow wet to boost colour intensity.
Add a little extra eye definition by lining the very base of the lashes with a bit of chocolate brown or black liner. This image via Emily Weiss for Into the Gloss; get the behind-the-scenes details here.
Happy New Year's Eve! (Drink lots of water!)
