The other day, Liza and I spent some time lamenting the lack of nice, super-affordable cream blush. There just aren't enough at the drugstore level. Soon, though -- like right after this post goes live and I get a chance to text her -- Liza and I will squee together about the new Maybelline Master Glaze Blush Stick. Yep: in early 2014, Maybelline is launching a stick blush , as well as a new pressed powder and a line-extension of nude lipsticks called The Buffs.
Maybelline Master Glaze Blush Stick is the short form of a yet another crazy long name from the brand (stop it, Maybelline!). Proclaimed on the label as Maybelline New York Master Glaze by FaceStudio Blush Stick, it'll come in "six to eight shades," says Maybelline makeup pro Grace Lee. It's so new that the team at World Mastercard Fashion Week doesn't know the names yet either; four shades landed in the tent today.
As for this "FaceStudio" label, what? A new Maybelline category like EyeStudio? Guess we'll find out. UPDATE: yep, that's exactly what's happening. A new mosaic-style highlighting blush called Maybelline Master Hi-Light by FaceStudio launches in January too.
Note the subtle shimmer in the Maybelline Master Glaze Blush Stick formula. All four advance shades appear to have the same finish, and it seems to register as a little extra radiance rather than sparkle. Still, at least one simple cream finish would be a lovely option. We'll see. Stay tuned for pricing and a proper release date. UPDATE: six shades to come, $11.99 each at drugstores; January 2014.
The New Product Stork also dropped off a new pressed powder: Maybelline Dream Wonder Powder.
I've barely swiped it, but it seems like a nice, finely milled texture designed to absorb oil. It also seems to be a bit drier to touch than my go-to MAC Blot Powder/Pressed, but we'll see. Stay tuned for details.
And there's more: the New Product Stork also brought Maybelline The Buffs lipsticks, a new line of nudes launching in January 2014.
The Maybelline New York The Buffs By Color Sensational lipsticks ($9.99, drugstores) will come in eight shades.
What? This Tim Hortons is closing in three minutes. Janine OUT.
