This feels like celebrity peer pressure. At this year's Oscars, pink was the lip colour of the evening. On the red carpet, variations ranged from barely-there sheer to petal pink on Oscar winners Jennifer Lawrence, Adele and Anne Hathaway. Nominees Naomi Watts (my vote for the night's best dressed, no contest) and Amanda Seyfried also wore pretty pink, and presenter Queen Latifah kicked it up with (fabulous) fuchsia.
Photos, and details on the lip where possible:
Jennifer Lawrence: Makeup pro (and wife to actor Patrick Dempsey) Jillian Dempsey used Dior Addict Lipstick in Beige Casual #22, which she described in her blog post for Allure as a "light Dior gloss with very faint pink tint."
Adele: Makeup artist Michael Ashton used Giorgio Armani Lip Liner in #12, Giorgio Armani Lip Maestro in #500, and Sisley Lip Gloss in White Diamond.
Anne Hathaway:According to Allure, makeup artist Kate Lee first applied Chanel Rouge Allure Luminous Intense Lip Color in Évanescente, then patted a bit of concealer on top with her fingertip to mute the colour a little.
Kerry Washington:Makeup pro Carola Gonzales used Giorgio Armani Lip Maestro 202 and Lancôme Rouge in Love in Rose Boudoir.
Naomi Watts: Makeup artist Pati Dubroff chose Chanel Rouge Coco Lipstick in Mademoiselle for Naomi.
Amanda Seyfried: Never mind the lipstick, I'm all brow-envy girl, and a bit mesmerized by that eye shadow.
Jane Fonda: Love the yellow dress! And Beauty Gospel: glossy soft pink is the most youthful lip finish ever.
Reese Witherspoon: This is a signature look for the actress; love flushed cheeks and eye makeup too.
Queen Latifah: Love, love this fuchsia on Queen Latifah. It's CoverGirl Queen Collection Lip Perfection in Powderpuff Pink, which isn't available in Canada. Facebook fans chose it from three CoverGirl Queen Collection options for the star to wear. I'ma have to search for it on my next trip to NYC (not easy to find either, I'm told).
Are you thinking pink? Or do you wish more celebs had taken a brighter-lip risk?
