I haven't really got into the subscription sample-box thing. Sure, I like the idea that samples of covetable products could be delivered to my door each month for a reasonable fee, but it wouldn't take long to bother me a bit if most of the samples were inappropriate for my hair/skin/lifestyle type. Paying for a service has a tendency to make me want it to be perfect every time.
Free makes me happy. Choosing makes me happy. Hello, SampleSource.com.
I've posted about these folks before, here and here -- their try-before-you-buy focus is on mass-market items for home as well as beauty and grooming, the kind of stuff you're likely to buy on a regular basis. Past samples have included Schick razors, John Frieda hair care sachets, Sensodyne toothpaste, and full-value coupons for Scrubbing Bubbles and laundry detergent.
The next round of samples goes live in October, this time with a possible 14 free samples per box. Fourteen! The number of samples you receive depends on the number of samples you choose based on a profile questionnaire you fill out (that's to make sure you're offered options that really are relevant to you -- better to get, say, just eight samples you can use and not have to deal with the extra six that are of zero interest). Registration is free. Shipping is free. Sounds like a good haul to me.
