Bold Brushstrokes: Could You Use More Audacity in Your Life?
I've been thinking about audacity. Actually, more the word "audacious." It's one of the descriptors cosmetics brand Lancôme uses to describe the exuberant work of Quebec-born, internationally successful artist Corno, who created the vibrant artwork splashed across the packaging of Lancôme's summer makeup collection.
Corno, now based in New York City, has shown her distinctive canvases in cities such as London, Paris, Shanghai and Hong Kong. She's also been featured in Toronto, at the Thompson Landry Gallery in the Distillery District. Today (Saturday) until 6pm, as part of the Luminato festivities, the artist is again in the Distillery District, finishing a large-scale painting in front of an audience of local visitors.
The Lancôme summer collection that showcases her art combines shimmery neutral shadows with statement lip shades and pops of cheek colour (including this gorgeous shade, Tangerine Tint). Lancôme official makeup artist Lori Spiga collaborated with Corno in selecting the shades. She's also with Corno at today's Luminato event, called Soon is Now, to offer beauty tips to interested attendees. As well, from June 14th to 16th, The Bay Queen St. will offer Corno-inspired summer makeup sessions with one of a team of Lancôme makeup artists (book an appointment via 416.861.4572).
Back to "audacious." A quick google brings up these definitions:
1. extremely bold or daring; recklessly brave; fearless
2. original; without restriction to prior ideas; highly inventive
3. recklessly bold in defiance of convention, propriety, law, or the like; insolent; brazen.
4. lively; unrestrained; uninhibited
The above terms speak to me for some reason, when it comes to work as well as other areas of my life. I'm actually not a particularly audacious woman, although I do have occasional moments. *grin*Â Certainly I could do with much more fearlessness, inventiveness and brazenness, as well as a healthy dose of lively, unrestrained and uninhibited... something. A life with more bold brushstrokes, maybe.
What about you? Would you call yourself audacious? Or do you, like me, need more audacity in your life?
