Few things spark summer outrage in me more than a sunburned mouth. Delicate lips + shine = easy burn. (Hazardous if you're prone to cold-sores -- some are triggered by UV radiation, says Dr. Kevin Sliwowicz, a Toronto-based physician.) Therefore pretty shades and adorable packaging aren't enough when it comes to lip colour, especially in UV-intense times. Whether gloss or lip balm, a decent dose of SPF is a must, unless you're good at layering an SPF balm on first (but who bothers with two steps most of the time?). And of course I like a bigger number -- 20 vs 15.
This summer, my always-in-my-purse Maybelline NY Baby Lips Lip Balm SPF 20 has three new friends in MAC's ridiculously irresistable Hey Sailor! Collection.
See? Adorable -- even more so because the UV protection make MAC Suntints SPF 20 Liquid Lip Balm ($19 each, maccosmetics.com) worthy of acquisition, ASAP. Yes, in all three shades.
Gorgeous and sheer, Suntints also win because they're moisturizing balms.
Okay, confess: how many of you already have these? Or at least a handful of Maybelline Baby Lips SPF 20?
