2012 Academy Awards: Kristen Wiig
Kristen Wiig looked pretty great at last night's Academy Awards, don't you think? Softer and prettier than her last awards-day out, certainly (although I did like her smoky eye makeup at the SAG Awards). Some twitter-folk thought maybe her hair was a bit underdone, but I liked it. Richly hued and shiny, the style was loose, sexy, uncontrived -- she didn't look like a salon-window prom-esque poster. And for that she had celeb stylist Mark Townsend to thank. Yup, he of the no-pain blowdry and Dove haircare expertise.
A simple look to achieve, it started with a generous amount of mousse -- Dove Style+Care Nourishing Curls Whipped Cream Mousse -- on damp hair, followed by a blowdry while smoothing with a round brush.
Townsend curled Wiig's hair in 3-inch sections. He first protected each segment with a thermal spray, then, about a third of the way down, wrapped the hair around a hot, 1.5-inch curling-iron barrel.
Post curling, he rubbed a small amount of hydrating shine serum -- Dove Style+Care Frizz-Free Shine Cream-Serum -- between his hands, then raked his fingers through her hair to loosen the style. To finish, he scrunched Wiig's hair while spraying with extra-hold hairspray to add texture and hold.
What's your take? Is the look red-carpet polished? Or better for brunch?
