From the top left, this is Canadian Living's Senior Beauty & Fashion Editor Julia McEwen (half-moon mani by Tips Nail Bar & Spa's Melissa Stormont) and Senior Beauty & Health Editor Katherine Flemming (outlined mani by Tips owner and Revlon Nail Expert Leeanne Colley), and me (circle-dot mani by Tips' Rita Remark). We're all dressed in Revlon Colorstay Longwear Nail Enamel in Bold Sangria. (I think Katherine is also wearing Provence, a pale lavender, as the base/outline.) Like?
Rolling out in stores now, Revlon Colorstay Longwear Nail Enamel ($8.95 at drugstores) promises up to 11 days of wear when used with the collection's base and top coats. While I can't tell you for sure how the polish performs -- I'm wearing it over my soak-off manicure -- I'm a little obsessed with the collection because of a twist in the formula. Does the twist make a difference in the durability and finish? My tester says... maybe, kinda, sorta. You'll have to weigh in too. In the meantime, I dig the shades:
That shimmery metallic green, Bonsai, is a limited edition available only for the collection's launch.
Marmalade, the second shade, is punchier than it appears in the above photo, more a splashy orange with a drop of cream to keep it out of neon territory. It’s a bit like the Tangerine Tango hue Pantone has declared the colour of 2012. (Naturally it's my favourite shade.) And Provence, on the right, is milkier, with a misto of lavender. Staff must have messed up the "set's" lighting conditions when I wasn't looking. *sigh*
The Colorstay Longwear polish brush is unusual, too. My tester wishes the edges were a bit tidier, more precise. Let me know what you think.
The collection consists of 16 shades. A couple of shades, plus the base and top coats, and maybe a bottle or two from Essie, Deborah Lippman, and OPI adds up to a nail-polish nut's idea of a fun holiday gift, huh?
Oh, does anyone want to know how to do the circle-dot manicure?
UPDATE: I'm impressed. Colorstay Longwear Bold Sangria lasted for two weeks over my soak-off manicure without a single chip, crack or peel. The most it did was wear at the tips for an ombre effect. Results when worn on bare nails are the real measure -- I've been getting thumbs-up reports via email. Have you tried it yet?
Revlon Colorstay Longwear Nail Enamel is available at drugstores and mass retailers; it's all been shipped, so if it's not in your hood it's a matter of waiting for it to get put on the shelves. Same goes for Revlon Colorburst Lip Butters! For more, visit revlon.ca.
