Carey Mulligan, 25, won Best Actress at the British Independent Film Awards for her role in Never Let Me Go. Congrats to her on that achievement, but would she have won a Red Carpet award?
British people are pale, I get it. I also understand that bronzing is a slippery slope when your dress shows this much skin: the jaw bone's connected to the neck bone and the neck bone's connected to the shoulder bone and all that.
God forbid you end up looking all "Lohrange," and we all know the actual sun is trying to kill us, and now there's a tax on tanning beds in the U.S. (thanks Snooki for dropping that particular piece of knowledge). But it's still a universal truth that this looks better than this. That's why the grocery store circular has a "serving suggestion" photo, after all.
So what's a girl to do? Should Carey have darkened her hair? Worn a brighter lip? Tried some more blush? Fired her stylist for dressing her in the too-bright, weird dress while her hair is so very, very blonde?
For my money, this is a hair problem; the right colourist could have fixed this lickety split.
Photo from Zimbio.com and they have a great slide show showing Carey from every imaginable angle.
