One of the things I admire about Shiseido artistic director Dick Page and his approach to beauty is that he cares not a whit about trends. The subject of "what's-hot-now" and "how-to" make him bristle. For him, beauty is beauty, all about art, about what speaks to you. It's a philosophy that certainly works for him -- he's the master behind the makeup on runways for Michael Kors, Marc Jacobs and Narciso Rodriguez, as well as stories for Allure, Harper's Bazaar and Vogue. Celebrity faces in his portfolio include Kiera Knightly, Julianne Moore, Sienna Miller and Beyoncé Knowles.
Page's new eye Luminizing Satin Eye Color Trios ($40 each) for Shiseido are not your typical 1-2-3 highlight/lid/contour set up. The colours are glorious, unexpected, and inspired by Page's world travels. Some are a bit of a challenge for the makeup conservative -- they require a willingness to be your own artist. "You can decide what you want to say about yourself," he tells beauty editor Lesa Hannah in her story in this month's FASHION Magazine.
