So you're the captain and shortstop of a legendary baseball team, five-time World Series championship winner, four-time Gold Glove Award winner, and 2009's Sports Illustrated Sportsman of the Year. What are your top-five grooming essentials when you're out on the road?

"I'm pretty simple," laughs Derek Jeter in a phone interview just before a game against the Blue Jays last Friday. He pauses for a moment or two. Despite being a high-profile spokesperson for Gillette, he's not jumping straight into brand messaging for his answer.

"A razor. Toothbrush. Deodorant.... I have to give you five?"

Clearly, grooming is not top of mind in the hours before the Yankees' first game of the season in Toronto.

But we do arrive at five, including toothbrush and deodorant, and it starts with a Gillette Fusion ProGlide razor, newly upgraded with improvements to make shaving more comfortable for sensitive skin. For Jeter, though, sensitive skin was never the issue.

"In the earlier days there was more cutting myself [shaving]," Jeter admits, and good-naturedly declines to speculate on when he might last have done such a thing. "I don't want to jinx myself!"

Unsurprisingly, face scrub doesn't make Jeter's must-have line-up. But he does unexpectedly say the "m" word: "I use moisturizer because I'm outdoors a lot," he offers, referring to Gillette's Fusion HydraSoothe Balm.

Shave gel eventually comes up after a wee prompt. "Oh I counted that with the razor," he laughs again. "I use the Fusion Hydragel. It makes the shave a lot smoother."
